Hello! I have had this issue for quite some time now and I can't seem to figure out why. I have windows 11 and an asrock B450 motherboard which has 5 audio ports. They are pink, green, blue, black, and orange; I plug in pink to pink and green to green for headsets except the pink port for the mic never works. I recently purchased a HyperX Cloud Stinger headset, which should be decent quality, but I still cannot get my PC to pick up any sound. And now, it is not even showing up in my input device section or under audio output and input in device manager.

Things I have tried:

  • I have tried approximately 5-6 different wired headsets but none of them have worked.
  • Updated audio and microphone related drivers for Windows 11.
  • Unplugged and plugged in again + restart.
  • Downloaded HyperX drivers for the headset.
  • Used Windows 11 "get help" - the audio trouble shooting did allow the mic to show up for about 1 minute before disappearing from the sound tab again).
  • Everything is enabled under sound and privacy & security settings.
Wireless headsets with USB dongle work but I really want wired. Is my best solution just to buy a converter to use the headset via USB? Is this a hardware or Windows issue? I don't get why it keeps disappearing from the input area in sound settings.

Thank you !!

A few things I forgot to mention: I have AMD audio not realtek and I can always hear sound from the headsets so it is just the mic part that has issues.

Until someone better placed with mic issues comes along;

Could be a faulty port but did notice the below;

I have windows 11 and an asrock B450 motherboard

I have AMD audio not realtek

There are nine different versions of that MB but they all have one thing in common, they all use 7.1 CH HD Audio (Realtek ALC887 Audio Codec) a couple have Creative Sound Blaster features as well but none have AMD audio chips going by the info here

That's bizarre. I saw others mention RealTek in their audio choices but mine says AMD.

Either way! I bought the USB adapter and it works AMAZINGLY. I guess something with my ports and the software related aren't working but at least I have an alternative. Thanks for the reply.
