hello there. i typically dont have too many troubles when it comes to pc's and figuring things out but i am stumped.

i have a Razer Ornata v2 keyboard and its never caused me any troubles until now. it works when typing on the internet, as its what im using to type right now.
but when it comes to typing in let's say the windows search bar, or even in game it just doesn't work. i have also tried using the on screen keyboard which doesnt work either which makes me believe its not the keyboard itself but some issue with windows.

i have downloaded most recent drivers and windows updates and still nothing. any help would be great thanks

a couple of quick tests....

reboot the PC into Safe Mode and see if the issue persists.
also try creating another user account and log in under that profile.

when you tried the OSK, did you unplug the Razer?
what software is loaded to support the Razer - background processes, start-up items, game profile managers, macro key assignment, etc?

i booted in safe mode and it worked in file explorer which it does not on regular boot. i did try unplugging it and am using razer synapse 3.
i have yet tried to create a new account and log into it tho, will try that next.

*edit* can't make a new account because it requires me to type which i can't do

try creating the new account when in Safe Mode.
the theory behind a new account is that whatever is attached to the current account (startup process, services and background tasks) will not be started when logging in with another account.

but because it worked in Safe Mode, that's a sign that it is software related - something is starting in normal mode that isn't getting started in safe mode.

next logical step would be to uninstall all Razer software, download the latest from their website and reinstall that.

After what Bruce said, could you run this tool, to see if there is a change in the issue after....?

Download and run KillEmAll
Unzip it to your desktop.
Right click run As admin.
This will kill all non essential processes.
Including your browser, so save anything you are working on prior to running the tool.
Let us know if there is any change in the issue after using killemall.
Do not reboot after using this tool, it is a temporary tool to kill non windows processes to see if that is an issue.

figured out the fix although don;t know what the issue was. had to type C:Windows\system32\ctfmon.exe in the run command

so running ctfmon fixed all your issues?

reboot the PC and see if you need to run ctfmon again?
it should be in the Task Manager list, if not, it's not getting auto started when Windows starts.

yes, it needs to be done everytime i restart my pc :/

Have you disabled any of the services?

Made in reg edits?

Ran any third party cleaning software?
i don't believe i have no, not even gunna lie i dont think i know how to disable those services. i used razer cortex for a cleaning service but after this stopped working to see if it'd help anything

Let try a few things and yes may seem like a bunch if information and steps just take your time and no rush. There is no particular order that they need to be ran in.

Did find this may and or may not help.

Let's get a speccy report to see what is running and configured in the system.

Do this after a restart.

Do not forget to post the make and model of the PSU if this is a desktop.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

figured out the fix although don;t know what the issue was. had to type C:Windows\system32\ctfmon.exe in the run command

Right click on the task bar and select Task Manager.

Look under Background Process and see if you can see the CFT Loaded listed.

Create a new user account and access the system through that user and see if the issues are still there.

For some reason showing the Microsoft link as Redirected which gives a way to maybe enable it.

Do not forget to try a different login user account.

Shows in speccy that the service Stopped: Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service which also can deactivate the CTF Loader

Press the Windows Key + R to open the run dialog box.
Type services.msc press enter.
(you can also copy and paste it into the box)

The services window should open

Scroll through the list for Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service

Double click on it and where it states Startup type change the setting to Manual.

Click Apply then OK

Close the Services window and restart the computer and see if that helps.
