So I have a custom built Windows 10 gaming PC, and when Microsoft was handing out free Windows 10 upgrades, I jumped on the bandwagon and tried it out. The Windows 10 upgrade executable said all of my hardware was compatible, but when I upgraded, my internet was absolutely trashed. It had multiple problems, couldn't find the server, had an invalid MAC address, DNS problems, etc. So after asking around on the old PCHelpForum.com, nothing was resolved and I rolled back to Windows 7 only to find out my internet problem had transferred over from Windows 10 to Windows 7. I asked even more on PCHF.com with no luck, and my PC literally sat for 3 months without internet unless you used USB tethering with your phone. (So I think on-board ROG internet was incompatible?) Anyway, something happened and it randomly started working again which was a relief. So now, I want to take another shot at installing Windows 10 on this system. I know how to download the upgrader and everything, but what do you all think?

My on-board internet is Intel I217-V.

Windows 10 will not normally cause issues with the internet connection, and will usually work even before the install of Windows 10 completes. If you did not get windows 10 to connect to the net then its unlikely that you activated it, meaning you may well be not entitled to upgrade now seeing the offer is over. Of course if it did the best way for you would be to forget the upgrade path and do a clean install, always better than upgrading.

Your network connections can always be configured manually with Win 10 as well if necessary.

Yeahhh... probably will do a clean install at this point.

I'm gonna go ahead and mark this as solved so that no one feels obligated to worry about it, but I'll reopen it later if I have any problems...
