If you are using the tablet wifi only then you ease one of my worries. I agree that it is not very useful if you can't do what you want. Wal Mart carries a tablet called NextBook that has the Android version 5 for about $80. I have bought 4 of them over the past year. One for myself and 3 as gifts. I added a 64 Gb micro SD card to it for the extra storage. If you don't want to spend the extra money at this time then I will be more than glad to give it a go to help a friend. If you don't still have my address shoot me a PM. I will do my best. :)
Those nextbooks are the 8 inch ones right? I looked at one the other day while i was in wally world..

That is the one. Vger. They are wi-fi only but I have no need for an expensive data plan. For a tablet running an Atom processor they have a good battery life. A descent tablet.:)

Here is an update on Vger's Samsung Galaxy Tab. After receiving the Tablet I (thru some research and plenty of head scratching) successfully installed ClockWork Mod recovery. This allowed me to flash a custom rom bringing the tablet forward to Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). After some testing for stability I can now give it a pass. It is time to send it home. :) I appears we got this little operation done just in time. Since the rom developers have lost interest in Vger's particular tablet, finding the roms and files to root and flash it were becoming difficult. I had to back track on a lot of dead links. I found out that development stopped 3 year ago for the Sprint and Verizon models.

@vger When the tablet gets back to you there will be some setup to do. You will need to setup the Wi-Fi to your home network and setup your gmail account so you can use the Google Play Store. I would suggest getting the ES File Manager. When I reset the tablet to clear my profile, you lose any apps installed later. Be careful because the tablet is rooted so it is not as child proof as before. If you need further help just ask. :)

Yeah me to..you could tell it racked up those frequent flyer miles...good thing it was packed good..
You did a wonderful job with the packing Vger but call me paranoid, That is why I did the bubble wrap thing. I have gotten UPS packages that look like they have been handled by a playful gorilla. I hope you are pleased with the OS update. :)

As Rustys suggests, doing a complete backup after you have gotten the Tablet the way you plan to use it. As for the ROM image, I still have a copy or you can download it from Cyangenomod. I also have the GAPPS file as well. Keeping the App caches clean will help keep the Tablet running in good form. (y)
