I brought my PC back home for the holidays and when I went to plug in my ethernet cable, it would not connect. I’ve tried a few things like resetting my modem and router, reinstalling ethernet drivers, and resetting network settings but no luck… Then I removed my wifi receiver from my PC and kept the ethernet cable in to see if the PC was prioritizing wifi…. to my surprise I was still able to access the internet. Even though my PC says not connected under the ethernet tab, it is displaying that I’m connected to wi-fi.
After troubleshooting for a while, it’s become apparent that the connection will randomly disconnect and it’s also pretty slow… I wouldn’t care if it was just a display error, but my ethernet connection is straight up behaving like a wifi connection.
For context, I have used this ethernet cable on this PC in the past without issue. However back at my apartment I used a TP-Link Powerline Adapter for my PC and used the ethernet cable in question for the ps5.
Running Windows 11
