I know nothing about computers so I shouldn't have even attempted this, however I tried to follow some instructions online.
So the initial problem was my external hard drive was showing in the background (in devices and printers) but not in file explorer so I couldn't open it so see my files, I followed instructions I found online which said to add a drive for it through the partitions bit but long story short it didn't work (and I don't care about that anymore) but now the drives that were originally there are affected. And this is now my problem.
They still show in file explorer but all the files within them show little grey crosses and nothing opens. The files within them says 'the file is not currently available for use on this computer'.
Is there any way to undo what I did?
I have checked and there is no system restore set up so I can't do that.
I am not sure what else to do
I am using a HP elite book from my work if that helps with windows 10
