Hello,

I'm having a very random problem. After a literal few minutes, my computer will turn off the monitor and I guess go in sleep mode. If I hit the mouse, it turns back on and resumes as normal. Other times, I can leave the house for 10-15 minutes and it stays on just fine. I checked my settings, the computer is set to sleep and turn off display after 45 minutes, both on battery and power. Just now I got up, went to the kitchen to look for food, which was maybe under a minute, came back and the display was off. There's no reason for this, my settings are as they should be.

I will note I do have a second monitor plugged in, a flat screen tv.

PC is an Asus ROG, and OS is Windows 10.

Just a small update.

I went in and disabled the sleep settings. The computer is set to never sleep or turn off display, it's still doing it.

Another update.

Sorry to keep bumping, but I did a Google searh which led me to check the event viewer. Under windows logs-->system, there is

"Information

The system is entering sleep.

Sleep reason: System idle."

But this makes no sense. It should not be going to sleep at all! Before anyone suggests overheating, please understand that this ONLY happens when I stop using the computer. Again, this is so random because it doesn't always happen. Sometimes it can go 10-20 minutes without going to sleep.

long shot, but worth a try at least...

try these commands from an elevated command prompt;
powercfg -s 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c
powercfg -h off

the first set your Power Scheme to High Performance and the second turns off hibernation.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up hardcore Google searching to try and figure this out. I think I found a solution, but I don't want to jinx it. Will keep an eye on it tomorrow and report back.
