Maybe we should figure out how to do step 2,kaspersky. I dont know how to get rid of the 4G thing and i get confcused when too many things go wrong, being old doesnt help , lol. I also need a new keyboard because the F key is sticking.

Is it possible the F key sticking is the problem? It started sticking about a week ago

If sticky keys are an issue, replace the keyboard, that'll prove it quick smart.

The system is showing McAfee, so it's got it's fingers in there somewhere.
The Mcafee Removal Tools is here
Make sure you have disabled the auto-renew feature, click here for steps.

Also, from your Programs & Features list, remove; (don't forget the MTB report from post #2)
  • HP Documentation
  • ExpressVPN (can re-install later)
  • HP Connection Optimiser
  • WildTagnet Games
  • Mozilla Maintenance
As to GSI;
  • Download it from here
  • Go to the downloaded file and start it, it'll be called something like GSI-6.2.2.66.exe - on that popup window (not the website you have shown in your shots) you will find Start at the bottom of that popped up window
  • It makes a ZIP file on your desktop, now go to their GSI Parser site, and drag that desktop zip file to the page where it says "drag and drop files here"
  • Once analysed, paste the newly created URL into your post

I did the kaspersky thing but it asks me if im sure i want to replace the John desktop something with another file. Why do i want to do that and will it mess up the computer?

Im a nervous wreck. The mcAFEE thing wont work. It installs just fine but then it asks me 10 times to enter a different security code. everytime i do it asks again and again.

I tried again and i did it twelve times and everytime i enter the code it just goes to enter another code.

On a positive note i replaced the keyboard and it appears the cursor is moving faster if that means anything. I feel stupid because when i read thru threads here the people needing help seem to know how to do things, but i dont. Sorry.

Kaspersky is probably just saying there is already a file on your desktop and if you want to replace it - we do.

The security code the removal tool shows is case sensitive, you need to enter exactly what it wants.
I just tried myself, took 3 times before I got it right.
So keep repeating until you either get lucky or it eventually shows a code that can easily be recognised as upper and lower case characters.

It would be great to get rid of McAfee once and for all! (y)
If you haven't already done so, make sure you log onto your McAfee account and disable the auto-renew payments otherwise they will still charge your credit card.

Any luck removing the 4GB memory stick?
You will need to open the case up (with the PC turned off but still plugged in as this will earth it for you).
Locate the memory sticks, and find the 4GB one, you'll probably have to remove both to read their labels to identify which is which.
Note the orientation of how they sat in the slot, they only go in one way and have a groove in them to stop them going in the wrong way.

And finding the model/model of the power supply?
Whie the case is open, this would be a good time to look at the label on the power supply, which will be a large metal box within the case.

And running the MTB tool?
This will give us a snapshot of all the programs install on the PC.

What you may like to try is taking a step back and doing these steps just one at a time.
Don't look at the whole picture, it may be too daunting.
Focus on one task at a time, get your issues/results organised, and post your findings in one post.

Also realise, if things are out of your depth, and you feel unsure - it is never a bad thing to throw your hands up and get help.
You don't know what you don't know and we have all been there - done that. :)

I did the mcafee thing. Thanks. Asfar as the power supply its very confusing with all the wires and plugins in my surge protector but i think its the thing that says insignia if that makes sense but it seems to be going to the speaker. I have no idea how old it is but i set the comp up on may 05 2023

No way i can do this. Im not even sure how to open up the computer much less mess around with the insides. I have palsy in my right hand so that would be hard even if i knew what i was doing. I had a friend who died a few years ago who knew everything about computers but he cant help now. I would have to pay for anyone else to help.

**** End of log ****

I will work on num 2 later. I got the mcafee out and did num 3 mini toolbox

There is another black box in the surge protector hooked into the cox cable router if thats the power supply. I cant see any writing on it but its quite a few years old.

We are moving forward - congrats! :)

Let's get another Speccy report and check the McAfee status.
And remove those items mentioned in post #23.

The power supply is inside the case, the outside stuff is power to the PC, the inside power supply is the power to the electronics. This would be good to know what it is, as an old, or poor model, or faulty unit may explain your issues. But if you can't, that's fine. Same for the memory.

The process we are trying to follow at the moment is to get to machine to a normal state (as much as possible) - that is, all the low hanging fruit which stands out can be addressed in the hopes it may be the root cause.
And if it proves not to be, we have at least eliminated the obvious.

Having two sticks of memory of different types is know to cause some issues and should be avoided if possible.
Your two may be similar enough, but they aren't identical.
It will only be after one is removed that we'll know if they are an issue.

Try the above and run the PC for a couple of days.
Have the lock ups still been occurring, and if so, how often?

Looks like MACAFEE is still there. It hasnt locked for a few days and it appears the cursor is moving faster since i put in the new keyboard.

Im not paying anything for macafee, it was on the comp when it was set up and another person here helped me to get rid of it right after we set up the comp. Peter Oz helped me 5 hours that night setting it up because right at the start there was no place to hook it up to cox cable. He told me to hit F10 and then gave me a bunch of instructions after that. He was great. I had to keep unplugging the new comp from the modem and plugging back in the old comp so he could tell me what to do. I dont think the old comp will work anymore though.

Macafee just doesnt want to leave me.

I may not be here tomorrow as i have 2 doc appts. I will see how it goes.

I removed wild tangent games last night but i stopped because i got a message on my phone saying my microsoft account verification code is 2155. I dont know why i got it. Nothing about Microsoft popped up on my computer.
