Hi.
My computer couldn't find the OS so i tried to fresh install windows 10, trouble is boot usb doesn't work, the usb works on other computers, the BIOS is set correctly, anyone any ideas.
Many thanks

what medium is trying to boot from the USB port, a hard drive or a USB stick?
either would need to be a bootable USB medium - that is, have the correct boot record for Windows to find.

if you used the Windows Media Creation Tool, it'll make a bootable USB stick for you.

It's a usb stick and I did use the media creation tool, once the usb is plugged in the computer just does nothing, a blank screen.

Have you set the BIOS to boot from USB first?
Is there a key which if pressed on startup (F7, F8 F12 etc) which will allow you to select the boot media? If yes are you rapidly clicking this as soon as you see the pc manufacturer’s logo?
Did you create the boot media on another PC? If yes did you choose to create the media for another pc rather than allowing the tool to pre-select the settings?

I've done all of what you said.

How is the bios set ufei or legacy

Most likely the hdd is dead
is this a brand name computer hp,dell etc. if yes make and model number please.
if not make and model number of motherboard.
Do you have any data you need to get off the drive
Sorry I though I had replied to this post.

Bios is set to legacy.
hdd is ok because on another pc I was able to install windows.
Motherboard is Asus M2A-VM (Its an old pc)
No I don't need anything from the drive.

Many thanks.

Ok it can still be wrong for this computer

I think you will have to burn a cd/dvd.
Looking through the manual I cannot see an option to boot from usb in your bios.
When you plug a usb in does it show in the boot option in the bios?

Cd/dvd won't hold win10 64 bit.
Yes the BIOS shows in the usb in boot options.
This probably won't help but if I use the creation tool to make a boot usb it just sits there with a flashing curser in the top left of the screen, if I use Rufus with an ISO file it asks me to press any key and then it doesn't do anything.

No, how do I do that?
I found how to turn the quick boot of but all that's now happening is the pc sits on the motherboard screen for 3 to 4 mins then nothing.
As I said before its an old computer, and the only reason I still have it is I let my grandkids play their games on it, but if you guys can't help me then I'll have to take it to a computer shop.
Any further ideas please.
