Sound is cutting out for a moment on both headphones and speakers, first a pop, then programs will lag, then audio returns. I have tried updating reinstalling audio drivers, I have also done a reset. Worried the issue is hardware and not sure what to try next.

Hello

With all that is happening when you here that pop,it could be very well a hardware issue.. How old is the pc?

Most parts including the motherboard are 2018.
I have a x399 gaming pro carbon motherboard and a amd ryzen threadripper 1900x 8core processor.

The popping sound can come from several sources,psu,mobo..etc.. You will need to try pinning down the location of the popping noise..

I don't have any parts to switch out and test. How else would I go about doing that?

Yes, I discovered it had something to do with the usb on my headset. Even when deactivated and plugged in it was causing all other sounds to cut out. Thank you for the help.
