Hello,

I have recently bought a new PC and I have been encountering some issues with artefacting and monitor "disconnecting".

I have this setup: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JskdVw

1) Monitor randomly disconnecting, mostly during gameplay - I have managed to figure this one out, so I will leave it here in case someone else has encountered this issue. For me, it was caused by AMD Freesync being turned on in adrenaline.

2) Artefacts - I keep getting artefacts, in game, even in browser just casually scrolling, sometimes even on desktop, when GPU is pretty much idle. I have tried: different 7900 XTX, reinstalling OS, swapping HDMI 2.1 / DP 1.4 cables, swapping monitors, swapping GPU for 1070 (no issues there), swapping to another PCI-E slot, updating BIOS, toying with adrenaline... nothing has worked for me so far.
Please, does anyone have the same issue? Any suggestions on what to try out next? GPU temps are fine, no hotspot temperature above 90 Celsius.

Thank you for any suggestions and If I have to be more specific (post more info) please let me know, I will gladly do so.

i5-13600KF Processor

Kingston FURY Beast RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory

That is the wrong RAM for your CPU, Intel state here up to 5200MHz and if you have XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC fall over.

For testing purposes, try restoring the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS, they are sometimes listed as one of the following " factory defaults" "most stable" or on newer boards "optimized" please note that if you have both the "most stable" and the "optimized" options in the BIOS you should choose the most stable" option as in this instance the "optimized" settings are a form of overclocking that can cause instability.

Save the new settings, exit the BIOS, restart the computer, test by using the computer as you normally would, post back with an update once you have done this.

NB: You should also make sure that the Windows Power Plan is set to Balanced and not High Performance

Hello phillpower2, thank you for an answer, this is a massive oversight from me.

I have set BIOS to default, RAM to XMP with 4800 MHz (was 6000 MHz).
I have set my powerplan to balanced from high performace.

I will test it in some games and post an update. Once more, thank you.

You are welcome Archmarshal :)

this is a massive oversight from me.

Don`t be too hard on yourself, many people get taken in by the marketing hype that MB manufacturers use, rule of thumb, a CPU must be compatible with a MB whereas the RAM has to be compatible with both the CPU and MB.

Thank you, problem seems to be resolved, but new one has risen. In game, I have over 100 fps, but the game feels laggy, almost like 30. Could that be caused by RAM timings? Maybe I will have to set it up manually

Nevermind, just as I posted it I noticer artifacts again

I have recorded the issue, as it appears in browser: here (I apologize for bad quality, my phone is old and hand shaky, but the issue is still very obvious).

Hi,

Does the artifacting and display distortion happen with different video cards or does it happen regardless of the card installed? Have you tried using only one monitor and lowering the monitors resolution or the refresh rate of the monitor to see if that has any effect?

In addition to the above, reseat the GPU, try the card in the other PCI-E slot and double check that all connections from the PSU are secure at both ends.

It happens with different monitors, I have tried using different cables, I have also tried to use only one monitor. It happens with 7900 XTX cards, I have tried GTX 1070 and RTX 2060 and there was no issue with those. I have tried to lower my refresh rate from 144Hz to 120 and 60 Hz, problem persists. I honestly haven't tried to lower my resolution from 1920x1080.

In addition to the above, reseat the GPU, try the card in the other PCI-E slot and double check that all connections from the PSU are secure at both ends.

I have re-seated the GPU, even tried different PCI-E slot, as my original post states. I have checked the VGA powercables (3x) going from PSU to graphic card. Everything is plugged all the way in.

In addition to suggestion, I have re-installed my OS from WIN10 to WIN11, sadly that didn't help. Also disabled C.A.M (clever access memory) in BIOS, no luck.

I have just noticed that adrenaline has a Resizable BAR option, which is tied to C.A.M, I will try to dissable that as well and see if that helps.

Please note that I suggested checking all connections from the PSU are secure at both ends, if none of them are loose it suggests that the GPU is the problem even down to your Intel platform PC not liking AMD software running on it, for such a high end build I would have been tempted to have an RTX 4070 or 4080 tbh.

Thank you for pointing that out. Yes, I have also chcecked motherboard cables, there is 4x4pin plugged in, 1x24pin i think, and then I have one cable for storage.
And you are right, I honestly wish I went with 4080 instead.

There is a possibility that the video card is faulty.

Try installing the 7900 XTX into another desktop PC if possible and if the artifacts happen in another system then that will narrow down the issue to the video card itself that is to blame.

Maybe it also is possible that its an Intel platform issue where the Intel chipset does not like the 7900 XTX cards for some reason.
