I recently bought a monitor and PC for Christmas. My monitor only supports a DP or HDMI connection, and my PC has a DP, VGA, and dvi connection. When i plugged in the DP cable to the PC and monitor, the monitor said "This computer has an add-in graphics card, but the monitor cable is plugged into the integrated video connector. To attach the monitor cable to the add-in graphics card:

1. Shut down the computer
2. Plug the monitor cable into the add-in graphics card connector. This may require a video adapter or video adapter cable.(provided with the system)
3.Turn on computer"

So, the DP cable didn't work at all. I looked up what it was and the website said I plugged the cable into the motherboard connections instead of the "add-in" card connections. I thought i could just get a dp to dvi adapter, but those will only go up to 1080p and 60hz. But my monitor is 1080p and 144hz. I don't want to play games on a 60hz monitor. I want to use what i paid for. What should i do?

Hi Kami_Illusions, Welcome to PCHF! :)

Before we can help you, we need some additional information. What video card does your computer have? What happens if you plug the display port connector from the monitor to the dedicated video card? Can you force the monitor to detect the display port input?

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions, thanks.
