I recently bought a monitor and PC for Christmas. My monitor only supports a DP or HDMI connection, and my PC has a DP, VGA, and dvi connection. When i plugged in the DP cable to the PC and monitor, the monitor said "This computer has an add-in graphics card, but the monitor cable is plugged into the integrated video connector. To attach the monitor cable to the add-in graphics card:
1. Shut down the computer
2. Plug the monitor cable into the add-in graphics card connector. This may require a video adapter or video adapter cable.(provided with the system)
3.Turn on computer"
So, the DP cable didn't work at all. I looked up what it was and the website said I plugged the cable into the motherboard connections instead of the "add-in" card connections. I thought i could just get a dp to dvi adapter, but those will only go up to 1080p and 60hz. But my monitor is 1080p and 144hz. I don't want to play games on a 60hz monitor. I want to use what i paid for. What should i do?
