Solved ACCESSING BIOS

Keyboard I bought was USB type - probably return to store for refund tomorrow.
If we can't sort out for whatever reason, I suppose the answer will be to access Bios via Windows.

If you want to do a hard test, disconnect any storage devices from the MB, restart the PC and if the BIOS does not detect your USB keyboard it is personal. should Windows ever go wrong on you there is no means of you accessing the BIOS.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Apologies, but didn't do anything ref. the first part of your last post - mainly because I don't understand !!!

Anyway, I ran Speccy as follows:

Disconnect the hard drives from the SATA ports and then restart the computer, you should get a no boot device warning, if your keyboard still does not work it emphasises the point that I was trying to get across which is that you need to have a working keyboard on boot else you will not be able to reinstall Windows should the present OS become corrupt and likewise you would not be able to clean install Windows should the boot drive fail.

Couple of things of note in Speccy;

Your OS is shown to be Windows 10 but we can see that you have tried to upgrade to Windows 11 a couple of times

Regarding the attempts to upgrade Window 11, do any of those dates tie in with when you first noticed the issue.

Your version of BIOS is from 2018, the latest version supports Windows 11, this may or may not resolve the issue, the latest BIOS version can be downloaded from here

Please note that flashing the BIOS comes with risk so consider your options before undertaking the task.

I have changed from high performance to balanced.

I tried Windows 11 but I wasn't keen - one of the main reasons was due to the lack of thumbnail support, which for some reason they have done away with.
Secondly I like using Openshell which is not yet fully compatible with Windows 11.

I honestly can't remember whether attempting to upgrade to Windows 11 coincided with the current issue.

That's a pity as it may well be that has caused the issue.

Have you checked that the keyboard and the USB ports are enabled in the BIOS.

All enabled.

In post no.8 you asked if Fast boot was disabled to which I replied that MSI Fast Boot was disabled.
I didn't realise that in BIOS under Advanced/Windows OS Configuration there was also an entry entitled Fast Boot, which at the time was enabled.
I have now disabled it.

Incredibly all is now working - I can again access BIOS VIA DEL key. (I need to keep tapping DEL for about 20 seconds).

Not incredible at all really, Fast Boot was the cause of the problem from the get go, curious as to how it got enabled,, no worries now that you are sorted and thanks for letting us know
