System as follows:

All installed approx June 2019

Windows 10 Home
Motherboard - MSI Z370-A PRO
CPU - Intel Core 13-8100 Coffee Lake
Ram - 8GB -
PSU - Corsair RM 550X
'C' Drive - Crucial MX500 5--GB SSD
'D' 'E ' & 'F' Drives are DVD Writers
'G' Drive 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 SATA

Despite several attempts over the last couple of days I am unable to enter BIOS via the usual method i.e. the DEL key.
Also I don't hear a beep when starting up PC. Should I be hearing a beep?

Would appreciate any assistance please.
 
What‘s the full make & model of the PC?
What was the last thing you did on the PC before you noticed the problem - update Windows, install updates etc?
What Windows 10 version are you running? Current is 21H2.

I listed system details in the first post, so I don't know what other information you need.
All available updates were installed.
Current version is 21H2.

No problem booting into Windows.
No problem entering BIOS until about 2-3 weeks ago, when after about 3 attempts I managed to get into BIOS.
Recently, as stated I am unable to enter BIOS.
In all honesty I can't remember whether it ever beeped or not!!
 
Nothing wrong with the computers hardware then.

Do you happen to be using a USB type keyboard, if yes, what colour USB port is it connected to, blue or black.

So what prompted you to ask the question then, BIOS error speakers are as they are called are there to help with diagnosing boot problems but you say that you can boot into Windows without any issue.

Just a fyi, BIOS speakers cost pennies but most of the MB manufacturers stopped fitting them as standard years ago to keep their costs down, they should be compulsory if you ask me.

I asked the question ref. bleep because I was led to believe that all motherboards beeped on when attempting to enter BIOS, but obviously not the case as you said.

Keyboard is Logitech Media Keyboard 600 which is USB type, and is presently connected to a black port.
 
Nope, checked the manual for your MB and it shows no speaker meaning that unless a speaker has been retro fitted you will not hear any beep/s.

Impressive, a near fifteen year old KB that is still working but perhaps being so old is the problem, a recent update may have upset the apple cart, this ties in with why I asked the colour of the USB port the keyboard was attached to, not all BIOS chips have preloaded drivers for USB 3.0 or above ports but most do for USB 2.0.

The keyboard clearly works ok once in Windows so best and only suggestion that I have is get yourself a wired PS/2 type keyboard, wouldn`t be without one in my toolbox.

Couple of additional thoughts, is fast boot disabled in the BIOS and have you tried pressing F11 on boot so see if that works, it old be the Del key itself.

Bearing in mind Rustys suggested method worked OK - would you say that the problem is fairly certainly the keyboard?
Any suggestions for a decent keyboard (not too pricey)

No, the keyboard works in Windows, borrowing another keyboard or trying yours on another computer are two checks that you can do.

If you like the keyboard you could try an adaptor like the one here

Tried another keyboard I have which has a ps2 connector and that worked fine.
BTW I have a USB to PS2 connector but it is green - does it matter?
Might be a couple of days before I can try another keyboard or perhaps try my keybooard on another PC.
Please keep open until I come back to you.
 
Apologies for the delay getting back to you Roger, had gremlins of my own to deal with :(

No matter what colour the adaptor is as long as it is the PS/2 type.

That is the acid test, at the moment it looks to be down to the BIOS no longer having compatible drivers.

Apologies for late reply.
I ordered a new keyboard which should have been delivered today (Sat) but it didn’t turn up. The seller has refunded me.

As I said, the ps2 keyboard I tried was fine - access to bios was OK and when I exited bios I was able to type password.

I found a purple ps2 adaptor, connected to my existing keyboard, plugged into ps2 port and it wouldn’t let me do anything - no access to bios and no ability to type password etc.

Meanwhile I’ll get another new keyboard.

Please bear with me until I get back to you.

Could be the adaptor, did you try the green one.

No rush on our behalf, you have let us know that you have had a delivery issue and so kept us in the loop (y)

Went out and bought a new keyboard today - unfortunately it didn't make any difference ????
Plugged it in and tried to enter BIOS - no good.
 
Do not think that it will matter what keyboard you get and or use.

Which is why in Windows 8 and beyond they have it set to access through windows.
