windows 10 pc unrecognised network error - can no longer get on internet

It's my windows 10 pc at home. No other pcs are connected by ethernet to the router. However I've just connected my old PC which was working fine the last time I used it, connected it to the router and I get the same issue with unrecognised network. So maybe the router is the problem despite it providing WiFi to all my other devices without any issues.

The router and modem are separate, correct?

If yes would can you take the second system and connect it to the modem directly and see if it makes a connection. Would validate the router being the issue.

I will have to agree with this that there is an issue with the configuration of the router. Which is what we will be working on next what is the make and model of the router.

Sometimes unplugging the power to the router for a bit may clear that up by clearing the memory buffer.

If not, we will have to look at the configuration and worst-case scenario reset it back to a factory state (router).

May have to also reset the IP addresses back to dynamic and not static and or anything.

Run the Following command and copy and paste the results in the next post from the affected system.

This will create a file on the desktop called ipconfig.txt
I've typed in that command but it isn't valid. It states "the system cannot find the path specified". I also don't know how you've got the command onto a different line as command line prompt doesn't allow me to write it in the same format as the one you've posted. You've posted

ipconfig /all
(new line)
>"%userprofile...

It isn't possible to put the command on two lines like that. The only way I can type the command out is on a single line, like this

ipconfig /all >"%userprofile....

And this isn't valid

The router is a virgin superhub. I'm assuming the modem is combined in the same casing with the router as I only have a router on my PC desk, there's no other device around so I can't see how the modem would be separate

I've reset it several times following the virgin instructions and YouTube videos. Each time I get the same result which is faultless WiFi connections to my phones, laptops etc, but unrecognised network on my PC as it is connected via ethernet.

might be pointless answering that question any was as tethering/WiFi bridging using my phone is now no longer working either. tried 3 different phones and the PC just refuses to recognise any of them in order for me to connect to their networks. I'm fking sick of this!!!!

Xbox is connected by WiFi.

I did try to test the ethernet connection to the Xbox last night, to see if it connects, but the problem is that by default the Xbox will just use WiFi if it doesn't establish a wired connection. So when I connected the ethernet cable to the Xbox, it was able to get onto the Internet, but I can't be sure if it was connecting to the Internet via the ethernet cable, or it was just reverting to WiFi. It's really difficult to explain what I mean but hopefully that makes sense. basically there seems to be no way to check on the Xbox if it's using the ethernet or whether it's just using WiFi. I think the only way I could be certain is to get the Xbox to forget my WiFi password, but I can't find a way to get it to forget the password.

Hub 3.

Light is on the back of the router. If I move the ethernet cable to a different port then the light will work on whichever port its connected into

I'll have to check if there's a light on the back of the pc and get back to you

If the xbox is connected by cable are you able to use that connection to test pc.
No t buy swapping cables both ends.
Leave xbox connected to router.
Disconnect cable at xbox and plug into computer.
reboot computer
I've been able to delete the WiFi connection off my xbox so have been able to test if it works solely by ethernet and it recognises that there's a wired connection but states
Wired ipv4
Nat type unavailable
Service info unavailable

Can you unplug all connections to the router.
Turn the router off and unplug the power cord for at least 5 minutes.
Turn router back on and wait for lights to show you have internet connection on the router.
Plug the pc only in to a port on the router.
Test.

unplugging everything didn't work but finally virgin have sent me a replacement router and everything is working. christ knows why but it seems to be that the old router was blocking ethernet connections. wish I'd known that sooner before having to take 4 days off work.

cheers for your help in trying to get to the bottom of it. now to get some physio for my right shoulder after so much reaching around the back of the PC with bloody ethernet cables
