I am trying to fix a laptop for my Nanna all of a sudden it has got stuck in a automatic repair loop. The laptop starts up and on the next screen it says preparing automatic repair and after about 30 seconds of that it goes to a black screen and just stays like that.

All of the solutions I have seen to fix this on the internet have either said to use the system recovery or a fresh install of windows. The problem is that I can't get into the system recovery, boot from usb or enter the bios.

It is a lenovo laptop and has a button which you can press next to the power button which brings up options of either Normal startup, Bios, Boot from CD/USB or System recovery but pressing any of these options just does the same thing as a normal start up and ends up in the preparing automatic repair loop again. I have tried every key combination during start up that I could find to try and enter to bios or boot from USB but i'm having no luck with any of them I just get the same screen over and over.

Does anyone have any suggestions on anything else I can try to either enter the bios or boot from a USB?

Thanks.

What were the events leading up to this happening?
How long have you let it sit like this before powering it off?
How old is the laptop and was Windows 10 the original operating system installed?
Do you have the Windows 10 install media?
Do you have a desktop with available connection for a HDD?
(If yes what operating system)

Thanks for the replies, This issue is fixed now. I don't have any idea how but I turned it on and left it for around an hour on the black screen when I went out the house and when I came back it had booted normally which it wouldn't do before.

Not a problem it was probably attempting to correct an issue there was.

Is it now booting properly? Will hold thread open for a few days while you check.

Will still suggest that you run a Check Disk on the drive to make sure that it is not starting to fail.
