I already did this. I have made a bootable linux (i tried with ubuntu, fedora, centos, mint) and checked whether the disk is showing or not. none of those distro's are showing HDD.
i'll mentioned what are the things i did and faced the issues in my next comment. it will take some time to write everything

I'm using this laptop from past two years and installed so many distro's till now using dual boot but never faced this issue.
My laptop is having two drives. One is SSD and other HDD.
Three days ago I wanted to make dual boot of windows 10 and Ubuntu.
Windows 10 is already installed.
So I made a Ubuntu bootable in pen drive.
I make some space in SSD by shrinking down the SSD, leaving 100 gb of free space.
so i booted that usb and in that selected that free space and waited for sometime to think which partitions I should do. I went to back and casually selected HDD just to see what it will do. I applied any changes in HDD and went back to that free space I created in SSD.
I made three partitions ( / , /swap and /home ). Then I selected the time zone and clicked on install..
Some process done with in few seconds and it showed some error and asked to restart. I though the os is installed and restarted. It got stuck in the boot screen with some commands showing some errors .
Then I restarted and and went to windows and made usb bootable again.
Then installed using the same process I used in the above and I installed well.
In mean time I didn't even checked at all about the HDD. I thought everything was working well.
There were some updates, I installed them and restarted.
I went to windows to check something then I restarted ..
This time I wanted to go to ubuntu and mistakenly clicked on windows.
so i force shutdown the laptop.
I restarted the laptop then went to ubuntu and noticed that drive isn't there.
i got suspicious and went to windows and found out that drive is not showing here too.
got worry and reinstalled the windows but nothing worked.

these are the fixes i have tried.
I clean reinstalled windows again. but not worked
resetted the bios. but not worked
used segate tools. but HDD not at all detected.
removed the HDD and checked externally using sata to usb dongle.
booted several distro and checked whether disk is showing or not. but nope
connected it to desktop. but nope.
meanwhile i checked in bios that still ubuntu is showing in the boot manager. i cant to load defaults and save bios.
i removed all drives and reflashed bios. but nope.
i removed cmos battery and then reflashed. then ubuntu gone.
i updated bios and downgraded bios. but nope.

Finally i came to point that my HDD is dead. I will try to take it to a chip level repaire center and asked them to check whether the platellets are dead or the board is dead. If it can be able to fix it less amount i will repiar. or else new hdd.

btw all the time i'm talking as HDD. but its a Segate SSHD.

in that case, it would look like the HDD has gone belly up.

let me guess, it contains important files and you have no backup of it!!!
not the most. but yes important files are there. But my files can be recreated. It will take some time but possible.
Most of them are games. saved game files and important documents are in cloud.

The only thing I have confidence that it might work are these.
After clean flashing of windows 10 the drive will appear like this. After windows update and laptop drivers installed they will gone completely like the drive is not connected at all.
