Power loop problem

Status
Not open for further replies.
I have a cyberpowerpc laptop from a few years ago. It has a 2060 and a 6 core Intel cpu. It's currently stuck in a infinite power loop. The screen dosint even get a chance to turn on. The device turns off right away and the results don't change weather It's plugged in or not. The charge light indicates the battery has a full charge. I believe the last time I left the laptop I had it do a automatic shutdown after a windows update.

Not really, anything important is on an external drive.

Windows 11 was working fine

I have access to another computer

I'm not sure but I can pick one up in the morning if not

Thank you for responding

You could download the windows 11 creation tool and try a repair.
However if you do not need any data you could do a fresh install

The youtube clip below is for win 10. The basics are the same for 11
Reinstall Win 11 Fresh Install

Download the win 11 tool run it to recreate the flash drive – Must be minimum 8GB

Watch this video
How To Install Windows 10 From USB - YouTube
In the video at 2:54 you will notice it restarts the computer.
When you are doing this and you get to that point Remove the usb stick whilst it is restarting.
Also if you want to setup a local account instead of logging in with a Microsoft account
Turn off your wireless network and or remove the network cable.
This point is 3.32 in the video - Choose I don't have internet.
If you want to log in with a Microsoft account then leave the network as is.

Before doing any install, it is a good idea to go to the support page for your system. Download the drivers you are going to need ie chipset, sound, video, wireless, etc. While win10 has a lot of native drivers, microsoft drivers are designed for ease of use and are NOT designed for any type of performance. Store these drivers on another usb or you can even just make a folder on your install usb when you are finished making the install usb. Copy the drivers into that folder.

When you are finished with the install, then install your drivers. Install the chipset first then the rest of them. Reboot each time when prompted.

From here a list on how to install https://www.labnol.org/software/device-drivers-installation-order/14310/

It's a cyperpowerpc laptop. It's not really an "official name brand" laptop so alot of the parts are off brand parts. I'd have to look into how to find a driver for some of the things like audio. The chipset and graphics I know how to do

correction, i downloaded the wrong file
im still not getting any results. the computer wont turn on for more than a split second
i believe there may be something wrong with the battery. there is significant battery expansion, but not a huge amount. and it has been used very often for a few years now

Can you remove the battery and just tun off the mains?
Get what you can
Or hope windows drivers do enough
Sometimes you have no choice
Let's see what happens
i tried a fresh windows install but i couldint even do it. it shut off right away. i replaced the os ssd with an new empty one and its doing the same thing. im not sure if its the battery or something messed up on the motherboard

the battery does have minor physical bloating. the device has been used very often for intensive gaming for the p[ast few years. im not sure if the battery is toast or if a different componet is the problem
