P65 Creator 8RF (White Edition) battery duration issue

P65 Creator 8RF (White Edition) has 70k mWh of battery at max capacity but only lasts for about 2 hours.

It says on the front sticker "8 hours productivity". So I thought my battery was simply old and I wanted to replace it... but a brand new one only has +10k mWh.

I am plugging the following (I don't know if it matters that much) :

  1. A mouse (RGB off)
  2. A mechanical keyboard (RGB on)
  3. An external SSD
  4. A SPECTER 30in monitor (but it has it's own battery and it's plugged)

Btw the laptop has a 16in screen.

What should I do?

The laptop is about 2 years old.
The battery is indeed Lithium.
With all external devices unplugged: basically the same

I use my laptop for gaming and studying. When I am gaming, I use my laptop at full capacity while being plugged (otherwise I would see performance drop in-game). But when I am on battery, then I am only studying (basically using Virtual Box Ubuntu, Chrome, PDF, World, etc.)

I wonder is if the "70k mWh" I am getting from the battery report is false. Because it doesn't make sense that it only lasts for 2 hours.

they only got 85 minutes under full load. (scroll right down to the end under Battery Life)

Looks like yours has a Lithium Polymer battery, which sadly, have a worse decay cycle than Lithium Ion batteries.
the lithium oxidises right after manufacturer, in use or not, they start decaying straight away, and typically, have a life cycle of around 2 years before you start seeing a noticeable drop in performance and capacity.

plus yours has that massive GTX graphics card to run, and with the age, you may be looking at a end-of-life battery (as far as steady, long-term, discharging goes)

do you remember it being this bad when it was new?

I just don't understand how the terminal command "powercfg /batteryreport" produces a report in which it says my battery max capacity is at 70k mWh (80k being a brand new battery) when it's clearly false. I am guessing it is just not that reliable.

correct, to be taken with a grain of salt - at best.
also agree, time for a new battery if the 2 hour life isn't cutting the mustard for your needs now.

although too late as you have already ordered it, but make sure it is new as in fresh minted, not new as in "still in opriginal packaging, never been used" as the later will be degrading whilst not in use.

Actually it does make sense.

Do not believe every thing that you read.

All are using power form the system.
Programs, updates, services, onboard hardware, etc. running in the background uses power.


If the product said "7 hours of battery" usually that means if you keep the brightness all the way down, you keep power saving on, and you shot down any unnecessary services.

I have notices with some of my laptops the amount of time left changes depending on what I am doing.
