Hello, guys!

I have a problem.
I own 2 PC:

PC1:
AMD Pro A10 9700 R7 3.5GHz
Gygabite a320m s2h
Windows 10 pro
16gb ram

PC2:
AMD Ryzen 3 2200GE
Asus prime a320m-k
Windows 10 pro
8gb ram

as you can see, both runs on built-in graphics.
The problem lies when I switch the CPU.
The gygabite board will run on Ryzen
but the asus board will not run on the A10.
I tried updating the bios but there's just no display on my ASUS board when I put the a10 on it.

What do you think is the issue?

Hello Johnry2024,

You don't mention having tried anything so we could be repeating stuff already done so let us know what if anything you have tried.

What version of BIOS is now on the ASUS MB.

Are you aware that there is a BIOS warning regarding the ASUS MB and the CPU.

Have you seen the thread and suggested steps on the AMD forum here

I am not the techy kind of person so I just tried to remount everything like the usually thing when there is no display. However, it seems its not related to other hardware as switching CPU is the only thing that I do. I saw on YT that upgrading the bios does it. It was an ASUS board so I just installed it online. I also updated all other software related to display like graphics software and display software but its the same. The only CPU that works for the asus board is the ryzen 3 and switching it to a lower a10 CPU does not give any display.
Aside from these things, I've never tried anything else.
The reason I want to switch CPU is because the microphone is grounded on the asus board and I use it mainly for work(online teaching stuff).

May I ask why you did not answer any of the three questions that you were asked in my reply #2.

Fwiw, flashing the BIOS is not something that a novice should be doing as the task comes with risk, there is an added problem in this instance as it is not just a case of flashing the BIOS and the first thing that should have been done would have been for you to go here and check the CPUs compatibility, had you of done so you would have seen the following warning;

A10-9700 (AD9700AGM44AB, 3.5GHz, 4C, L2:2M, 65W,rev.A1,AM4) ALL 0217 GO Remove AMD 7th Gen A-series/Athlon X4 processors support since BIOS version 5862

What about using a USB audio device

sorry for the late reply sir, I updated the BIOS to 6223 which was said to support older cpus. unfortunately there was still no display. I tried searching google for other answers but this is the only forum I could ask. I may have done something wrong or maybe I should just give up and let me use my second PC(a10-9700 with gygabite mobo) instead of using the ryzen 3 CPU.

It seems that upgrading was actually the reason. Downgrading seems to be the solution based on the link you provided. it seems that the mother board bios upgrade removed the support for older athlon cpus. Thanks bro, I will downgrade the bios and try to switch and see if there would be a display.

How have things worked out for you Johnry2024.
Good day sir! Unfortunately, the BIOS cannot be downgraded.
I used to have another ASUS Prime mobo and it short-circuit a couple of years back. It used to have the A10-9700 CPU so I though buying a new mobo would solve the issue. Then when I put it back together with a new mobo the A10-9700 did not have a display so I used my ryzen CPU instead.
A few years after this(currently now) I want to use my old ryzen CPU as main as the a10-9700 cannot keep up with my tabs and work so I decided to maybe do a little searching and I discovered that it could be a BIOS issue. So I went googling and came across some discussions about bios update etc which then I did only to find out that I should have downgraded it instead. So I felt a bit down. I googled a bit more and learned that it wasn't completely my fault as the latest mobo was preinstalled with a bios that was un-downgradeable and do not support the A series anymore. So basically I stuck at my current setup unless I buy a mobo that supports the A10-9700.
My wife would disagree with the purchase anyway...
