Solved gaming framerate and gpu problems after windows update

computer illiterate here, so please be patient, this is all new to me lol
ok so! last sunday i updated my rog zephyrus G15 laptop, as it was the only option when i went to turn it off for that evening, update and shut down. it updated to microsoft windows 11 home, version 10.0.22621.
monday evening i tried to run my favorite game, Path of Titans, and got this warning message

alright, seems like an easy enough fix. updated my driver to that version, 22.2.2, and im still only getting around 10fps on multiple different games including path of titans. ive tried other versions of the driver, uninstalling and reinstalling, and nothing has helped at all.
i used to also be able to use nvidia geforce experience, but now its just saying it isn't compatible with my computer since i updated it. ive reached out to nvidia support but theyve been of little help, all their solutions have gotten me nowhere so far.
what else is there to do? what can i do to return to my normal gaming experience?

Noticed a potential problem straight away but we need to know the exact specs of your notebook because there is more than the one version of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G15

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

The problem is still persisting- I checked several other games on my laptop, even Minecraft on the lowest possible settings, and my gpu was running at 100% with about 10fps on everything

Looks like the Windows 11 upgrade also needs to be accompanied by installing corresponding Windows 11 drivers, your onboard video is being used as opposed to the dedicated RTX 3070 that your notebook has, see my canned explanation below;

Once Windows has been clean installed/upgraded you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers, then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer ** or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.

** For OEM computers/notebooks such as Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo etc you must only download drivers from their support page, OEMs may sometimes redirect users to a third party site such as AMD or Nvidea to obtain the latest drivers for their GPUs, this tends to be for high end gaming notebooks and desktops though.

Ill try that out this evening! Thank you! I’ll post here with an update
