Description of Original Problem: In the past few months my PC has been crashing in multiple tasks and games that it previously, didnt, my pc suddenly goes black screen, with the monitors showing the "No Signal" text and audio bugs out completely, stays like that until i manually go and press the physical reboot button, sometimes the button wont work too and i will have to turn off the power supply and turn it back on.

ALL the crashes leave no crash dump at all, even with 3rd party apps.

---

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: GIGABYTE Radeon RX570 Series 4GB

CPU: Intel i3-9100f

Motherboard: IPMH310G

BIOS Version: American Megatrends Inc. F11 DB 29/03/2019

RAM: 2 x 8 DDR4

PSU: Pcwells PK-550

Operating System & Version: Windows 11 Pro

GPU Drivers: Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition, most recent option. Also tried using PRO edition

---

Troubleshooting: Went from Windows 10 to Windows 11, ran memtest and nothing was flagged, re-installed GPU drivers, cleaned the insides of my pc , undervolted my GPU correctly, tried turning on or off the radeon stuff such as freesync, as far as i can tell this is more of a hardware issue then a software thing.

What happens:

1 - Start almost any game

2 - Start playing, may crash instantly or after a while, happens in multiple occasions.

3 - Screen instantly goes black, sound gets "stuck" in a loud loop

4 - PC stays like that until i manually restart it

NO performance drops when im normally playing most of the time.

List of a few things that made me crash:
  • Certain visual effects in games make me instantly crash when i either get too close to them or when they happen on my screen, such as, any "flashy" effect can crash me.
  • Saving a trimmed clip with the Photos app while having any game on the background. -Any kind of screen recording eventually crashes me after a while of it, screen sharing, live streaming, screen record, clipping apps.

Games or situations that crashed me:
  • Dead By Daylight (exclusively on the transition to the post-game screen)
  • Roblox
  • Genshin Impact
  • Overwatch 2 (exclusively on menus or game loading)
  • Baldurs Gate 3 (exclusively on cutscenes)
As far as i remmember thats all of it, i basically cant play anything without crashing, my suspicions are both my PSU and GPU but nothing concrete, any help would be much appreciated 🙂

I'd certainly be putting a big question mark over the PSU.
From the sparse info I could gather, it seems it is
  • not meant for gaming
  • has 70% efficiency - the standard is 80% at least
  • only 6 months warranty - good ones have at least 5, with the ones to get having 7 to 10 years
  • max power 400watts - min power for RX570 is 450w
All in all, not only a crap PSU but not suitable for the PC it was installed in.

So first up, I'd be replacing the PSU, then the issue will be what other damage has the bad PSU caused.
