Hi everyone. I'm looking to test installing and setting up Windows 11 on a laptop to get ready to set it up on my desktop here eventually. But i'm conflicted on the best privacy-oriented, debloated way to go about doing it. From what I understand, there's a few different ways to go about it.
I just wanted to get everybody's take on what they do or if there's anything better that can be done for the process.
- Grab an original ISO from Microsoft's website and remove different elements or components via programs like NTLite, though this seems more time consuming
- Grab a trustworthy (as much as can be verified), modified ISO of a lightweight version of W11 such as Tiny11, Windows 11 Lite, or Ghost Spectre and install that. I know not everyone likes this option due to security concerns or versions like Ghost Spectre, but i've seen people praising it all over reddit and have seen nothing bad about it.
- Use a trustworthy debloating script to remove what may be left, though there's tons out there and it makes it hard to pick and choose which one to use
- Use a program like Shut Up 10/11 to disable what may be left via group policy or another method. I like WPD, but it hasn't been updated since 2022.
