Have you ever had problems using the inbuilt Windows "Safely Remove Hardware" or get frustrated when Windows tells you you cant remove the USB device at the moment. If so this little app may just make life a little easier, and possibly save you from corrupting data on your USB device. It's called USB Disk Ejector and it works with USB devices, Firewire disks, and Memory cards.
This little program works on all Versions of Windows XP and up.
Depending what removable drives you have connected, a dialogue box similar to that below will appear.
Our example above shows there are two removable drives connected, and to safely remove one all that's needed is to highlight it with the mouse as shown above, and then hit enter, or even easier just double left click any drives you wish to remove. Here we clicked Enter, or alternatively double click on drive "G". That drive can now be safely unplugged. Do remember of course to close and exit any programs you may be using on the external drive before attempting to use this app.
Clicking the "More" button at the bottom of the USB Disk Ejector box will bring up the options for the program. Scroll through and check them out, but the default options should suit most users.
Being a portable program the unzipping and file/folder creation process does not create a desktop icon, but it is very easy to create one. Navigate to the USB Disk Ejector program folder.
And you will have a shiny new desktop icon
Try out this great free app, we are sure once you use it you will love it, and if you have any questions on this app or any other computer issues please ask in our forums.
