I can receive messages using Microsoft Outlook 2024, but I can’t send messages. I tried doing that online repair, but no luck. Need help please. Mike

Is this an actual Microsoft account or is it another provider setup on Outlook?

This is part of Microsoft Office 2024, which includes Excel. Word, Power Point, Access, etc.

                myemail @hotmail.com? myemail @msn.com?

If it’s not one of the above, you’ll have to find out whatever email service you use, (your ISP?) the correct SMTP settings in Outlook for that service.

Most of the time you’ll need to know your login name, password, SMTP server,SMTP port, whether or not your service provider uses STARTTLS, and whether or not they require SMTP authentication.

Sometimes the auto setup craps out and you must go the manual route.

My email is mike13@ptd.net that is Penn Tele Data. I already called them and they said they do not support other programs other than their own email program. If I were to completely remove Microsoft Office 2024, and reinstall, would that solve the problem ?? I already did that full repair, and that did not help. I do not know if this is a coincidence or not, but we are moving from Pa. to Florida in about two weeks, and a friend set up a gmail account for me. I then did the process to copy the emails that go into gmail, over to Outlook, which they do.

Has this worked before or have you just tried to set it up.

                        Check your SMTP settings.
                        • Server: [ICODE]promail.ptd.net[/ICODE]
                        • Port: [ICODE]25[/ICODE]
                        • Authentication: You’ll need to enable outbound authentication (SMTP authentication), and it should use the same settings as your incoming server.
                        • Username: Your email username (without “@ptd.net”). For example, if your email is [ICODE]john.doe@ptd.net[/ICODE], your username is [ICODE]john.doe[/ICODE].

What error do you get when you try to send an email.

I do not know what happened, but Outlook now works. I can RECEIVE and SEND mail. Maybe after talking two times to my ISP

they made some changes. Sooo, all is good and working. Thanks to all for offering suggestions. Mike
