Im certain this must have come up before, but having tried really hard to prevent win11 update the blasted thing is now installing so I think I need help fast?
I do not want win 11 quite happy with win 10…can I halt the install and get rid of, or stop completely.
If possible please keep simple, as although under normal circumstances I can handle most things, when it comes to registry etc I have no idea Thanks
In the Settings window, click on Update & Security, and in the next window, select Windows Update from the left panel. Your screen should now display if Windows 11 is ready to be installed on your PC. If it is, you can click on Stay on Windows 10 for now.

Win 11 is at 86% install,is there no way that I can prevent install from completing??? It really annoys me to have Microsoft force this update on to the end user…they must be desperate!

Windows 11 is now at 100% ready to install which it will do whether or not I require it .Im running window home version and cannot find advised topic “stay on windows 10”??? Am I going to be landed with a upgrade I do not want?

Did as advised,:Settings:Update and Security: Win 11 ready for install: But no where can I find retain win 10??
Also checked link given which I have had access to in the past,but the download is relentless and I’m now faced with an install the minute I do a restart, that it appears,is something I cannot stop! I constantly paused updates for weeks, but each time my PC was on, the Win 11 download continued and is now at 100% ready to install!!
I sort advice through Microsoft,who put me in touch with majorgeeks!!!
I decided the best thing I could was to come “Home” (PC Help) and see if any of the wizards out there can stop this install from occurring?
If it installs you have 10 days from the install to roll back to windows 10. Downgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10 - ARTICLE - Microsoft Q&A
Then as advised by xrobwx71 go into your bios and disable TPM.
You have not supplied any information about your computer so it is hard for us to advise how to do that.
Yes,but first many thanks to all the forum members who as always came forward with their knowledge to help(y).I unfortunately did not get very far as win 11 was minutes away from installing,its a real pain as you do not appear to have any control over the update!! In the end I used my Microsoft account for the first time in decades and firmly told them them the problem and politely suggested they sort it.
To be fair they used computer share and went into my system and deleted all references to Win11 and blocked it from further attempts to install.It now appears to be all quiet on the Western front and one more problem put to bed!:coffee:
No that was the amazing thing, The agent I was dealing with said he wouldst charge me for 2 reasons,
(1) I had never in decades used microsoft support.
(2) Because the fault lay with microsoft and not of my instigating,it was he said" Microsofts “doing” and they would bear costs!
No argument from me…but if any forum member gets stuck with this download (which I reiterate is carried out automatically and forced upon you whether you want it or not!) The best way to go is via Microsoft,and get them to remove it.
I’m hoping the source was legit. It’s exceedingly easier to connect with a nefarious actor masquerading as Microsoft than it is to connect to Microsoft.
