Frequent PC freezing

I’ve noticed recently my pc has been freezing almost every day when running the games I usually used to play just fine. At random times my pc will freeze and im forced to shut it down manually with the power button. I’m clueless as to what’s causing it since I’m not running many programs. I don’t think its my pc overheating but really im not too sure. Any guidance would be appreciated

First place you should start is cleaning the C drive of clutter.

First issue I see is the drive is to small for windows to run properly and you are running out of space. Why we highly recommend a drive no smaller that 250 GB or more. This is because Windows requires on average 30% to 35% free space including 32 GB free space for updates, 7-10 GB reserved for future proofing on the C drive.

This is not including and limited to what the system uses for backups, swap page and hibernate files.

The less space available makes it harder for files to be stored properly and will become corrupt if they are even stored at all.[/COLOR]

to aid in the cleanup, you could use CCleaner or Glary Disk Cleaner or the inbuilt cleanmgr command.

I used WinDirStat to look at what kinds of files were taking up space and just downloaded CCleaner.
I have 51.7GB out of 118GB now on my C drive.

I’ve still been freezing. I’m wondering if it has something to do with my gpu usage and the temperature my pc is at while gaming. Sometimes my pc freezes at random times during the day, but it more consistently freezes after a couple of hours of playing Elden Ring, something with a bit more demand.

I’ve found my pc has a higher chance of freezing when im doing something with a higher gpu demand like playing a high performance game, screensharing, streaming, or recording. I’m not sure if my gpu is overworked/outdated or if my pc is just getting too hot when my gpu is being used at 100%.

This is just my speculation so im not sure if this is the problem, this is just what I’ve theorized.

The extra memory hasn’t made a difference in the freezing.

I’m not sure what you mean by my ram is set outside of what my cpu can handle. I’m not familiar with reading off of this website so i don’t understand. is 32GB too much or is it the frequency, and how can i fix it?

I will see if there is a BIOS update. I’ve never done one before so i will look into it
