to make that easier, here it is; https://download.mcafee.com/molbin/i.../MCPR/MCPR.exe
click this new link and it’ll download the removal tool for you.

go to your Downloads folder, double click the MCPR.exe file.
you’ll see “Extracting Files, please wait”.
then you need to click Next, Agree, Next, and then enter the Security Validation code (it’s case sensitive) and hit Next.
it’ll take about 5 minutes or more to go through all the installed McAfee products and remove them.

t the end of this process, McAfee should gone, reboot the PC and Defender will be enabled.
It gives me a security validation code?

For instance, in this example, you would type Aa8V into the box and then click next. The code you get might be different.

Can i get some claification? I think i am starting to understand. In reading this article there an OPTION 1 and there is a youtube video which says go to products and features and right click uninstall. But if you look at my sceenshot there are 2 mcafee’s, do i need to uninstall both or does uninstalling the first automatically unistall the bottom one? Then the article states if this fails go to option 2 which is what Bruce suggests, but how do i get a security validation code? Finally, assuming this works and mcafee is gone how do i see if windows defender is working? There must be an easy way to do a windows scan. With mcafee i dont have to search for anything there is an icon to click on.

Here is the screenshot again. There is the main mcafee 4th from the top. I assume i uninstall that. The youtube video says nothing about the 2nd mcafee that is next to the bottom. Does that go away automatically or do i need to separately uninstall that.

I know yall think im an idiot but turning the comp on and just getting connected to the web was a nightmare instaead of easy like everyone said. Had it not been for Peter OZ i would still not have a running comp.
A-Does uninstalling the main mcafee uninstall the webadvisor mcafee?
B-If that fails should i then proceed to option 2, Bruce’s idea?
C-What very easy way after this can i use to check on defender after mcafee is gone? And run a windows scan?

Thats why we want you to use the method we’ve provided to uninstall McAfee. It will get rid of all things McAfee.

Ok, it says all mcafee products are gone and i restarted. Im not going to click on anything else except this site until i am certain windows defender is working. If not, can i download avast?

I know it might be against the rules but i dont want to start threads on every Q. How do i pin my bookmarks to the left side of edge permanently, and what about the toolbar on the top like firefox.

Where is windows defender?

Ok, i found this

there is a green check next to firewall and network protection. Does that mean i have anti-virus protection? If so, how do i do a virus scan? What about all the brown exclamation points?

No, you don’t need a 3rd party Anti-Virus. Windows Defender is very robust, full featured solution and works well.

Look where your clock resides, click the small up pointing arrow, inside should be your Win Defender tray icon.

Hit dismiss on Onedrive. Hit dismiss on account protection unless you have a Microsoft Account and want to sign in. Dismissing these will not diminish your protection.
click Turn On App and Browser Control.
Under Device Security click settings, the turn on Memory Integrity.

Reboot.
