    Beelink SEI8 Pro Factory Reset

Hi there…my first thread ever. My Beelink was recently updated with Windows 11 from 10. Then all my documents were gobbled into the cloud so to have local control over them I tried to do a full reset to factory settings (back to Win 10). I didn’t have a backup disk, nor was there any restore points created. But did run the ‘systemreset --factoryreset’ from the command prompt to get the original settings back. After 78% of the reset the computer froze and 2 days later still had not returned to running the command. So…I turned it off and tried again. This time the Beelink logo showed up and a window reads “The computer restored unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click “OK” to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.” Well, restarting just gives me the same result.

So, using Shift +F10 I get a command prompt and run ‘chkdsk’. Everything okay. Then I look at ‘diskpart’ and ‘list volume’ to make sure I see my USB drives. Next, I downloaded a copy of Windows 10 from Microsoft and placed it on a 128 GB thumb drive. From there I tried to run ‘systemreset’ from the USB and it locks up at "Getting things ready …1%'. So I tried to restart the computer with the USB in place. Nothing.

I’ve made sure that I’m logged into the command prompt as system administrator (net administrator /active:yes) and set the REAgentC to disabled so the computer could pull from the USB. Still nothing.

Apparently, the Beelink tech folks are overseas and don’t answer emails so I haven’t been able to get any help from them. Now though, I’m sitting with my work computer down and using my private MACBook to write and ask for help.

I’m not sure if there are files created from the original attempt from my factory reset that need to be removed or not. But I did reset my CMOS (unplug, reset, wait 10 min, replug and start), but that didn’t help either. Maybe other things need to happen as well, but I am not that tech savvy.

I can follow technical instructions well but need someone to walk me through it this time (for sure)…PLEASE. My system is an Intel Core i5-i279U CPU @2.4 GHz processor and was built 3/1/22. I can access the BIOS and the command prompt but just need some guidance.

Have you looked at the Reinstall System Tutorial?

My USB was FAT32 and I am now converting it to NTSB. I’ll let you know how that works out…give me ~2 hours. Thanks.

if Rusty’s suggestion doesn’t pan out, there’s also the Windows Media Creation Tool which will make a Win11 bootable USB stick which should include the latest updates already slipstreamed into the build.

backup your files first if you can.

I finished creating the USB 6-7 minutes ago. I’ll try this tonight and post results tomorrow. I used the media creation tool. Question: will it create win 10 and ask me for a product key? If so, since I downloaded from MS, should I have gotten one or can I find it in the software while it’s being installed?
