Very high power usage in task manager

Hello, recently noticed that my PSU fan got a lot louder and I got concerned, opened task manager and found out that a lot of basic programs that earlier were using very low energy are now using too much.

After I encountered that power use spikers, I went and upgraded my pc, put a new motherboard (Asus tuf b550m plus wifi 2) put in a new processor(ryzen 5 5600), and got a new PSU(cougar gex 850w).PSU that I got is a big overkill since I calculated in pcpartpicker that my pc will use around 450w.

I went and reinstalled windows (keeping only my files) thinking it would fix the problem but i had no luck.

Has anyone experienced this type of a problem and knows how to fix it, please tell me.

Exactly what PSU do you have?

I see you reinstalled Windows, did you install all of your drivers (starting with the mobo chipset) before connecting your device to the internet?

what is the problem still - a loud PSU fan or the task manager high power usage of some programs?
what programs are we talking about? can you show a screenshot?

do you still get the high power spikes when logged into Safe Mode or when using another account to log in with?

A loud psu fan is not a problem. The problem is that literally every program i open is using “very high energy” in task manager

I enabled safe mode with networking and after opening few tabs on google i can hear the psu fan spin faster so i think it still has "high power usage"went into task manager but cant enable the option called energy use

is it possible that my gpu is “leaking” electricity because on my pc im just using word on google and gpu is very hot

Does your PSU have a hybrid switch at the back? These can silence fans until they meet a certain temperature threshold.

I’ve never heard of a GPU ‘leaking’ electricity other than the few I have seen explode, it is used for graphics processing, which is not exclusive to running video games.

I replaced my gpu with another one and had a same problem
