    My PC freezes after i close every program... or sometimes during me playing a game

    So basically what happens is that my pc freezes if i am in a call with someone they can still hear me… but my screen is in 1 fps. I changed my GPU a month ago. It was a used one it looked fine but now i think it might be broken. I dont see any drop in performance unless these 1 fps moments happen. It also happens when i close all my software and when i start my pc. I usually just keep Task Manager open to prevent it from happening and it works sometimes. It started happening after i changed the gpu so it must be the gpu… can i get some help please

    let’s get your PC specs…

    download Speccy from here; Speccy - Download Builds
    in Speccy, click File > Publish Snapshot > Copy to Clipboard > Close.
    paste that link into a post.
    One area Speccy doesn’t show is the Power Supply Unit, so also include the make/model of the PSU.

    while we wait for those, try these from an elevated command prompt;
    [ul]
    [li]chkdsk /f[/li][li]sfc /scannow[/li][li]dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth[/li][li]dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase[/li][/ul]

        only minor issues with the Speccy report.

        your power supply is a basic, entry level unit, so it may be struggling with the new GPU.
        your SSD is down to 19% free space, so while not critical, it is getting low.

        have you tried putting back the old GPU to confirm your suspicion?

          My old gpu is dead so i am using this one, but this problem started happening the same day i changed the gpus so its 100% gpu issue.Ii also have an external SSD but yes my main SSD is pretty low on space, but i think my pc would just be slower if i had no memory this is a different kind of problem… my pc is decently fast and i have no problems with it but unless i close all my apps and when i start it up, but for example when i play games that need a lot of power and are very high demanding i get no lags no freezes nothing… this problem is so weird that i cant google it xD

              it was some old graphics card it didnt even have supported drivers anymore… i took out the gpu and it seems like the stuttering stopped.. i have an integrated gpu so i decided just to take out the main gpu out and see what happens. Do you know what could cause this problem and if it is fixable cuz its probably a hardware issue and not a software issue. I bought this gpu used like a month ago, i wanted something cheap for like 6 months or so till the prices of gpus come down a bit but i guess someone sold me a bad gpu.

                  so you have definitely narrowed it down to the GPU, so yeah, you either got a bad, used one, or it has gone pear shaped while you have had it.
                  either way, time for a new one. (y)
