New PC build randomly restarting during games

I have just finished my pc build on Sunday, bare with me as I am a total beginner.

My components are;

[ul]
[li]Corsair iCUE 220T[/li][li]Crucial P1 500GB[/li][li]Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 Vengeance LPX 2 x 6GB[/li][li]MSI Z390-A PRO[/li][li]Noctua HN-U12S[/li][li]Intel Core i7 9700K[/li][li]MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Super 8GB[/li][li]Corsair CV650 CV Series[/li][/ul]

The build is running great apart from it randomly restarting while I’m in the middle of a game.

I have tried turning off XMP incase that was causing issues, I’ve also checked my RAM which is set as 3200 and it seems to be okay. I have activated and updated windows also.

Sorry if I have missed a load of information, like I said I am a total beginner and don’t have much of a clue.

Thanks!

So other can assist

Operating System
Version
Release
Desktop Environment

what do you have over clocked

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Did it produce any dump files?

I had XMP on but I’ve turned it off incase it was causing the issue. I’ve not done any overclocking.

As Rustys has previously twice asked, any crash dmps for us.

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Computer type: Desktop
Installation Date: 30/11/2020 02:25:21

After installing Windows did you then install the drivers for the MB and starting with the chipset drivers first which is a must, these drivers need to be installed from the disk that shipped with the MB or downloaded from the MSI support centre as unlike most other drivers they are not available via Windows updates.

RAM
16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1066MHz Speccy should be reporting this as 1333MHz which would equate to 2666MHz when taking dual channel into consideration.

You need to go into the BIOS and manually set the RAM to run at 2666MHz as that is the minimum of what the CPU requires according to the specs here

You need a better PSU, CV = Corsair Value which are the cheapest range of PSUs that Corsair make, they are not intended for anything other than entry level school/office type PCs that only have integrated graphics, for a high end GPU such as yours you need a minimum of a Gold efficiency rated PSU, these are made to withstand heavy loads and have stronger caps, thicker wiring and advanced load and cooling features.

Which power supply do you need?

Windows appears to be having issues installing updates, check your update history to see if the two updates below have been successfully installed.

I’ve looked into it and I’ve never had the blue screen of death and therefore no crash dumps of any kind.

I installed the drivers etc.

I’m going to do what you have suggested with the RAM in the bios to see if it makes a difference. I’ll also get a better power supply as I believe that may be the issue.

Thanks for your help and I’ll keep you updated.
