Suddenly stuck in a loop of "reboot and select proper boot device..."

I tried the SSD in the same port as the HDD, as well as another port and it doesn’t show up.

So the HDD shows up no matter the port, but is unmountable. The SSD does not show up when in any of the ports.

Not sure how or why it has happened but it looks like your both drives have expired

A new or a known good but used HDD or SSD are required for you to see if you can install Windows to it.

For some reason the MSI site is not loading form me .

Look to see if there is a BIOS update that may correct this issue.

It appears that the MSI site is working.

Remember to choose the proper BIOS update that is specific to your motherboard and follow the instructions other wise you will have a nice paperweight.

My Motherboard is the B250 PC Mate, i found it on the msi website already ( https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B250-PC-MATE )
I assume i just need to try the most recent bios update listed?

Well i was able to update the bios, but it has not helped. The SSD doesnt show up in bios or when in Linux mint and i still cannot access the HDD that does show up.

I thought about it last night and decided to order a new ssd and hdd, they both arrived today. I have not done anything with them yet. Unless you guys have any other suggestions for me to try i think i will go ahead and replace my HDD with the new one and see if i can access it in linux before i do anything else.

If me and your new SSD is over 180GB I would clean install just Windows and the MBs chipset & storage device drivers to the SSD to begin with, and then go from there.

I have to agree with @phillpower2
Plus if successful do not install anything else and run the system for a while to make sure that is is stable.

OK guys thanks for the advice. It looks like ive got things working again.

Last night I actually did what you said this morning and setup my new SSD and installed windows on it. It was working well so I decided to check out my old HDD and SSD and see if I could get them. I was actually able to access my old HDD and its working fine, but my old SSD is not. (I also confirmed with my friend that windows WAS on my old SSD -oops- that explains the boot problems I was having, still don’t know why my old hdd wasn’t working in Linux but ohwell.) I think the old SSD died somehow.

Ive been running some applications (like steam) since last night that was on my old HDD and my PC is working like normal.
Anyways now I have the new SSD running windows and my new HDD as well as my old working HDD installed.

I know this ended up taking a while to solve so thanks again for all the help.

Sometimes it can take it bit to solve especially when having to do things through a message board.
