DVD Video playback.(Windows 10)

Gus,

I reinstalled Potplayer - I now have the option of making it default player should I wish to.

I think we may as well call it a day on my issue, unless you can come up with any more suggestions.

Very annoying - some DVDs, play ok and others don’t, unless of course I carry out that procedure of opening the .TS file.

You can always open a file with an alternate program even if another is the default. Yes it would be the way to go if you made potplayer the default.
