    Help switching boot/system device

I have a HDD that was used as my single storage device, but I have a new SSD that I want to use for boot and windows. I have tried copying the HDD’s contents onto the SSD and switching the boot device in the BIOS, but my computer still boots with the HDD and when I remove the HDD the computer fails to boot. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

You cant just copy the drives contents to another drive and have it boot. You will either have to clone the drive, or reinstall Windows. Macrium reflect free or Aomei backupper free will clone the drive.

Once a drive has been cloned to a new drive and the old drive removed and replaced with the newly cloned drive there should be no need to change anything in the bios. Did Todo backup tell you this?

No, the computer bluescreens without the old drive

Sounds like you have two bootable drives. Remove or disconnect the old drive and try to boot.

Did you do a partition clone or a system clone?

Sounds like a good move. Seeing you have ToDo backup now would be a good time to do a system image to an external drive and you will not have this hassle again. And make system images regularly.

Do you consider this solved now?
