    Silverlight failing to install

Ok so I know that Silverlight is no longer supported on a a lot of browsers. I was using Firefox 52.9.0 ESR which Silverlight was working fine on until their recent certificate issue. I’m not sure what happened but I must have deleted Silverlight from my computer while trying to find out why the program I needed it for no longer worked. ( It was down to the Firefox issue) Anyway firefox fixed the problem with their certificate and I have 52.9.0 ESR back but when I try to download Silverlight it says installation failed. When I click on More Information it says this

    Message ID: 1622
The installation log file could not be written. Verify that the Temp folder exists and that you can write to it.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I have looked elsewhere online trying to find a resolution and have tried numerous things.
    1. I have checked under my programs and Silverlight is not listed so I can’t uninstall and reinstall.
2). I have tried using Microsoft’s Fix It For Me and when I run it it says that Silverlight is not installed
      3). I seen a suggesting saying to

    Press Windows key + R, type: %temp%
    Hit Enter
Delete contents of the temp folder
Restart your system and try downloading again.

But when I hit enter I get the error c:\Users/User\AppData\Local\Temp;C:\ is not accessible
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect

4). I tried making a new administrator account and downloading silverlight there but it still fails.
5). I tried installing in safe mode ( it still fails )
6). I tried checking under regedit with the keyword Silverlight and deleting whatever was there, tried installing and it still fails.

Is there something wrong with my temp folder because that’s twice now it has been brought up while trying to fix this issue.

Can anyone please help me. I am desperate.

    Thanks

Have you tried the newer version of Firefox?

As far as I`m aware none of the third party browsers still support Silverlight, it may have been ok using it while it was installed and what you are experiencing now is an incompatibility issue.

I know it is not supported by Edge but have you tried IE11 or long shot checking for a Windows 7 system restore point that is before the issue first became apparent.
