Modern printers

I have had to dump two printers such as an HP and a Canon as the paper keeps jamming. Is this a problem of modern printers or due to the cold weather making the paper damp?

I can see if the paper is damp, it would jam. As most printers are made to use firm dry paper.

This room is not very warm and the blank A4 sheets lie on the carpet. Would it be best to keep them near a hot radiator or even buy sheets stating specially for printers?

The radiator may work.. Yes you could buy paper just for printers..
