[Tough One] Dual PC Setup Problem

I’m not sure which thread to post this in so I’m posting it in Software Support. I don’t know if its a hardware issue or what.

    Here is my setup:
    [ul]
[li]Gaming PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/coolha...v/saved/8vCqkL [/li][li]Streaming PC: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/coolha...v/saved/djx3CJ [/li][li]PS4: It’s a PS4…[/li][li]Rest of my setup: I have the PS4 plugged into an HDMI splitted on the other side of the room from my desk. One output of the HDMI Splitter going to a TV, the other is a 25-Foot HDMI cable that goes to a Port-Selector on my desk (I have HDCP turned off so I can stream with it using the port-selector/hdmi-splitter). My Gaming PC is also plugged into the Port-Selector and the output of the Port-Selector is going to the elgato hd 60 pro capture card in my streaming pc.[/li][/ul]

My conundrum: Whenever I turn on my streaming PC in order to stream, I open up Streamlabs OBS and there is nothing that comes up on the screen from my gaming PC. I have tried multiple ways to fix this and the only thing that works is this. I go to my device manager on my streaming PC, disable the capture card, restart the PC, open up streamlabs OBS, enable the capture card, then in Streamlabs OBS I have to then deactivate the capture card wait a few seconds then reactivate it.

I don’t know why it does this. My friend created a PowerShell script to automatically disable and re-enable the capture card on shutdown and startup but it doesn’t work at all. I have updated everything and uninstalled/reinstalled everything as well.

My question is how can I fix this to where I just turn on my streaming PC and it just works without having to restart and disable/enable stuff.

    Anything helps, thanks in advance!

I’ve only streamed on one PC, personally. Dual PC streaming setups are very niche right now for high quality/performance streaming. Have you tried any dedicated support channels? /r/obs, obsproject forums (currently down right now), and/or Streamlabs OBS Discord.

I haven’t tried those channels, I figured I would see if I could get an answer here first since I am used to this website and trust the people here more. Also, for those subreddits and discords, I don’t know if the problem is exactly with streamlabs to be honest. I personally think the problem is with the capture card itself and the hdmi port selector. Not entirely sure though

I don’t doubt the knowledge of the people on this forum, however, dual PC streaming setups are pretty specific in scope. Even if it isn’t a Streamlabs issue, you might find a fellow streamer that had the same issue as you, with a solution. I’ll wait for someone here to chime in if they know how to deal with dual PC streaming with capture card. If not, default back to what I originally suggested.

I’ll tag out of this one @vger, not a streamer and dual streaming… way out of my experience set.

So I emailed Elgato Support and this is their reply: “Yes, without the splitter and cable, it should work as intended. As stated, Elgato was intended to be direct connection equipment and may not function properly or at all if connected in any other manner. You may get better results from a different cable or splitter, but Elgato cannot possibly test for all the possibilities to ensure any kind of compatibility.”

Hefty rip. I guess I’ll just have to use the fix I’ve been using. Thank you for everyone that responded <3
