I clicked on a photo attachment this morning to open it. Out of the blue Microsoft Photos is not working. It trys to reinstall itself and can’t do it. Always an issue with Microsoft applications. I knew I should have sucked it up and got something that has reliable a OS and applications.
Right click on the Start Menu
Select Command Prompt Admin
(OR depending on the Ten Release)
Select Powershell Admin
when which ever on comes up type
sfc /scannow
Run this command more than once it may not pick every thing up on the first try.
if it’s just the Photo app not working, you could get another, like paint.net from here; Paint.NET - Download
of click on Start, Settings, Apps, Default Apps, click on the entry under Photo Viewer and select another one, like Paint or Paint 3D or you may already have another one the system can use.
Right click on the Start Menu
Select Command Prompt Admin
(OR depending on the Ten Release)
Select Powershell Admin
when which ever on comes up type
sfc /scannow
Run this command more than once it may not pick every thing up on the first try.
sfc/scannow didn’t seem to do anything. I preformed another system restore to an older date. Now MS Photos is working again. I had to reinstall avast due to the restore date being before it’s orginal install. So far all is well.
You won’t let that comment go will you? I am not a computer guru like you folks but I know my way around them pretty well. I have been on PC’s for 30+ years now. I have also repaired and update many including laptops with some basic hardware. In my opinion Microsoft operating systems have nothing but problems, bog down and are typically unreliable. I have had this PC for 16 months and have surfed the net and treated it with kid gloves. Guess what, Excel weirdness, Microsoft Photos problems and I think I’m forgetting one other issue. Every PC I have had that runs a Microsoft OS has had nothing but problems eventually. I spent some good coin on this PC but unfortunately I couln’t spring for what I really wanted. You reap what you sow I guess. It’s just gotten way, way old.
Thank you for letting us know that you got it resoled.
The reason for the question on Post # 2 was the statement that you had an illegal copy of Windows installed and due to the rules of our site we would not have been able to assist you if there was.
