MS Works 9.0 calendar reminder pop up not working.

While Works on the whole is fine I’m having problems with the reminder function, even though the reminder exe is listed in the correct places it doesn’t produce a pop up at the time of the reminder, I’ve set it to 15 mins & 30 mins before the reminder time to test it & nothing appears.
Opening up works calendar doesn’t pop up the reminder either but manually opening the reminder does work.
When I first install it works fine until I restart the laptop then it stops working.
The reminder exe is listed under startup for both all users & myself.
Anything I can look for or do to fix this?
    Tia.

Gee that software has to be the best part of 10 years old, and was only ordinary all those years ago. If memory serves me correctly it didn’t play well with other MS software back then. Perhaps it is time to look for something a bit more modern and capable?

        jmarket : Windows 10 pro 64bit.
The reminder didn’t work too well under Windows 8/8.1 either but I could just transfer the reminder.exe to the startup folder & it worked fine.

@gus: Can’t afford Office, & Works caters for all my needs in all other respects. I know there’s open office.
Currently using Windows calendar for reminders.

Unfortunately MS Works will not work on Windows 10. People have been reporting an error upon installation (see here)
It looks like MS Works can’t work under W10

Hi, If you require simply calendar with reminder features there are multitudes of them. If you use Thunderbird there is a great addon called “Lightning” which has an outlook like interface and options galore that should suit any calendar/organization requirements.

Have also used Rainlendar which is good. It gets a mention here in this lot HERE

jmarket Works 9 installed correctly on my Windows 10, however the reminder function looks to be broken.
@Rustys I am currently using Win 10 calendar reminders but unless the PC is turned on (not in sleep mode) the reminder doesn’t appear, Works reminder would pop up when I woke the PC. I have a workaround for the win 10 calendar so that is fine.
@gus I use Windows Live Mail which has a calendar function but it will cease to work after MS accounts are upgraded to the new sync protocol.

I suspect that I will have to live with the lack of reminder which is fine.

For me I’m currently using the calendar app in Win 10, if I set my reminders for after 9.00am (when I start using the computer) the reminders appear. I use it to remind myself to run Macrium reflect image every Wednesday.

Technically no as MS works calendar reminder still doesn’t work correctly but am content with my workaround so yes I would say the thread is solved.

You could also use the built in scheduler in Macrium Reflect, and not have to worry about calendars to remind you

Thanks @gus, I don’t keep the drive permanently connected to the pc hence why I don’t use the built in scheduler.
