We can see three things in the log, problems with Windows which were mentioned previously, the storage device that Windows is on is too small so is running out of free storage space and last but not least a physical problem with drive 0

Being so low on free storage space will prevent Windows from installing major updates in the long term and in the short term it can prevent services running such as generating crash dmps and Shadow Copy.

Error: (02/25/2021 08:46:50 PM) (Source: disk) (User: )
Description: The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.

Two things for you to do, most important first (see canned explanation below);

(1) Free up some storage space on the C: partition. **

(2) Upload a screenshot of CrystalDisk info “how to” below;

Download and run CrystalDisk info standard edition from here

Run the program, grab any screenshots and attach to your next reply for us.

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start…all programs…accessories…paint…left click in the white area …press CTRL + V…click on file…click on save…save it to your desktop…name it something related to the screen your capturing… BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG …otherwise it may be to big to upload… after typing in any response you have… click Attach file to add the screenshot.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

** Explanation for #(1);

For Windows to be able to run efficiently and to be able to update, on a mechanical HDD you need to have between 20 and 25% of the partition or drive available as free storage space at all times and on an SSD between 10 and 20%, if you don`t you risk Windows becoming corrupt or not being able to update which also puts you at risk of malware attack.

Data only storage devices should not be allowed to get any lower than 10% of free storage space of the full capacity of the drive/partition on the drive, this also to avoid data corruption.

Please note that storage devices can physically fail if the amount of free storage space is allowed to drop below the required 10 or 20/25% minimum.

Ok
Here are the screenshots u requests.
However i cant free up anymore space on my C drive, i have the AMD Raedon Software on it for my graphics drivers and not sure if its a problem moving it to D drive or not (it is 12GB).
One thing that’s concerning me is that there’s is a folder called “Windows.Old” and is 29.9GB of space and iv looked through every folder in it and they are all seem to be empty with nothing in them (no files) and when i check check the “properties” of all the folders theirs size is “0 bytes”. Im not sure what this is. Another thing i might is that iv deleted about 2GB of space and it has not yet registered and showed the number 13.2GB of space go down.

Your SSD is not 100% healthy but not in dire straits either, look towards getting a new 256GB or above boot SSD when you can.

Download then run the Windows All in One Repair tool from here, disregard the malware guidance but follow the other steps to the letter and in particular ensuring that you first create a new restore point and perform a proper Windows clean boot before running the repair, details for the clean boot here.

No rush on this as I may not be around until the morning UK time.

The word repair is there to make sure that people are aware that the tool can only try and fix errors using the present Windows installation and tbh there would be no need for the tool otherwise as Windows own reset or refresh tools are there for reinstalling Windows.

Ignore the above message, didnt know how to delete it after finding out the answer but anyways, i followed all the steps presented, i performed a clean boot, created restore point and backup and also done the repairing. However after the repair was finished and i restarted my PC, i got a windows message saying that my default browser (chrome) was causing a problem and so the default browser was changed from chrome to Microsoft edge. Another thing, is there anyway to see the results of the repair or something cause i have no idea what issues arose if any etc.

I have order the PSU i previously sent you as i couldn’t find one with 500W. I will be installing the PSU towards end of next week when it is delivered, is there any way to check it when i install it to see if everything is working fine or do i just keep playing games and eventually waiting to see if the current problems im experiences occur?

Thanks for your time!

Have you checked for and been able to install any Windows 10 updates since restarting the computer.

Reinstall Chrome and make it your default browser again.

Look on the C: drive/partition for a Windows AIO tool repair log.

I did find a 600W Gold EVGA PSU here but if you don`t mind paying more for the Corsair and its ten year warranty that would be my choice of PSU out of the two.

ah dam, i thought they would all be priced at around $150 so i went for a brand that i know. Im cut. RIP

in relation to the widnows updates in your reply, iv always been able to install windows updates and i checked for updates however there are none right now.

i have reinstalled chrome and set it as a default browser.

In terms of the log, i have found them where you said they are, would you like me to attach a copy of it?

If I am nothing else I am thorough + have a good memory, Windows and Windows updates were both broken and that is why you were asked to run the Windows AIO Repair tool.
