Constant BSOD for 3 months

My PC is constantly BSODing and I’m losing work every 20 or 30 minutes because of that. I’ve tried:

[li]Reinstalling Windows with an updated ISO (licensed)[/li][li]Using another SSD and HD[/li][li]Switching RAM memory position[/li][li]Updating drivers from the motherboard website[/li][/ul]
Common BSOD errors (ramdom order):

[li]SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED: FLTMGR.SYS[/li][li]KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE[/li][li]DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL[/li][li]KERNEL_AUTO_BOOST_LOCK_AQUISITION_WITH_RAISED_IRQL[/li][/ul]

Pattern: it’s not really clear, but it’s almost sure I’ll get BSODs when editing images on Photoshop or videos on Premiere (both licensed, 2021 version).

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: RTX 2060
MB: Asus B540-Plus Gaming

Please, if someone knows how to fix this, I’ll be extremely grateful since it’s really frustating to redo the work several times! Thank you!!!

Please note that when I updated my network driver (Realtek LAN driver V10.42.526.2020, from the motherboard website), the problem happened less times until it came back. Now I’m using my phone connected via USB tethering. In the last 4 hours, only got one BSOD (attached the minidump) compared to what was happening before that which was about one every 20 minutes or so. I think this problem has something to do with my ethernet driver or the physical port, but I’m not sure. Hopefully this information is useful, please let me know if you need to know anything else.

The cause of the latest crash was a problem between Adobe and the NPFS driver.

We can see couple of things in Speccy;

Windows is shown to be a recent install an that it has not been updated since the install, the NPFS driver is available via a Windows update according to the info here

Ryzen CPUs are renowned for not liking slow RAM and your CPU works best with 3200MHz, specs here your RAM is not capable of running at that speed and at this time it is shown to be working at near 2400MHz, this is bottlenecking your CPU and causing high memory usage in the process.

Not sure which your MB has DOCP or XMP, check in the BIOS to make sure that whichever option it is that it is enabled, this should enable the RAM to run at 2666MHz, not perfect but better that 2400MHz.

Sorry but not a good choice of PSU when there is a high end video card present, Corsair recommend that the CX range only be used for entry level desktops Which power supply do you need?[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR]

Thanks! I’ve installed the chipset drivers, changed the memory frequency to 2666mhz in the BIOS (I think so) but there’s no Windows Update available to update the NPFS driver.

Got another BSOD just now.

About my PSU and memory, I’ll try to upgrade them. But please note that this PC is about 14 months old and it was running fine until 3 months ago… I’m not sure what happened but I think it might be a hardware issue, I hope it’s not something expensive like the GPU.

Kernel Auto Boost lock acquisition with raised IRQL is flagged in the crash dmp, possible causes include network device drivers, overclocking and a bad CPU.

Bit of work for you to do I`m afraid;

Restore the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS, they are sometimes listed as one of the following " factory defaults" “most stable” or on newer boards “optimized” please note that if you have both the “most stable” and the “optimized” options in the BIOS you should choose the most stable" option as in this instance the “optimized” settings are a form of overclocking that can cause instability.

You will need to reset the RAM speed to 2666MHz again, btw, did you notice how much the memory usage has dropped since you increased the speed.

Power Profile
Active power scheme: AMD Ryzen Balanced

Change this to Balanced in the Windows Power Plan, Ryzen power plans are known to cause issues, example of source here

If you still have issues after doing the above, we will need to check Windows itself, try a clean boot and reverting back to using the LAN port on the MB.

The GPU is in no way implicated, the CPU and the Samsung adapter are both more likely suspects, regarding the PSU, don`t take my word for it if you like but below is the actual info that Corsair use;

Thank you so much for your time, I’ve changed some settings related to Ai Tweaker (it has something to do with OC and auto-chages), I’ve tried to disable some settings that come enabled by default. Hopefully my CPU isn’t bad. Also changed the power plan.

I’ll change my PSU when I get the change, thanks. The BSODs have decreased but still occurring. I’ll let you know if I can fix it somehow. Does this topic get locked automatically, and if so, can I unlock it in the future? My situation is really random and I can’t find a pattern other than BSODs when using Premiere, so I’m not sure when/if it will become a huge problem again.
