Bad PC performance

hey, fellas. lately I’ve noticed subpar performance coming from my PC especially with the specs I have compared to other systems which benchmark higher performance with the same rig.

For example, on counter-Strike 2 I am getting an average of 230-270 fps with the lowest settings and 4:3 resolution (1024 x 768) compared to people I know personally with lower end rigs compared to mine that surpass my performance, upon research builds on my gpu get about 300-400 easily on 1080p highest settings

Same goes with Tarkov, I notice it doesn’t run smooth anymore and feels very jittery and I notice performance drops while playing, sometimes when i play games it literally feels like im playing on a 60hz monitor and it feels terrible

I also monitored the temperatures and they seem normal, scanned for viruses and it came out clean, and literally did a factory reset a few days ago anyone know what’s going on? Appreciate it.

Sorry but you have post on a tech forum asking for help but have provided zero information about your computer or it`s hardware, this makes it impossible for anyone to even hazard a guess as to what is going on.

If the computer is a desktop can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy ( free ) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

No worries but we are still missing the information for the most important PC component of all, please provide the brand, model name or number and age of the PSU.

Note, two problems jump out of your Speccy report after only a brief glimpse, feedback on all of the report once we have the PSU information and had a thorough look at all of the Speccy report.

Decent PSU that has the required output to adequately support the GPU and still in warranty so all good there.

Obvious problems flagged up in Speccy are explained below and in the order that they are list not of importance, they are each equally as important;
RAM
32.0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1799MHz (18-22-22-42)

The RAM is not appropriate for your CPU, Intel state here up to 3200MHz and if you have XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC will at some time become unstable.

Disable XMP while we troubleshoot and once the PC is stable we can come back to manually OCing the RAM to 3200MHz.
Operating System
Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
Computer type: Desktop
Installation Date: 6/07/2025 3:05:45 PM

Windows is shown to be a recent install and a lazy one at that, called lazy as rather than it be done properly the system has just been allowed to work using Windows own generic drivers, how it should have been done and for as to why is explained in my canned info below;
Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer ** or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.

The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.
Power Profile
Active power scheme: Ultimate Performance

Change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced, Ultra and High Performance are a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues, the setting should only be used for gaming type notebooks that have a discrete GPU that needs the extra power.
Partition 1
Partition ID: Disk #0, Partition #1
Disk Letter: C:
File System: NTFS
Volume Serial Number: 9EB7521F
Size: 952 GB
Used Space: 144 GB (15%)
Free Space: 808 GB (85%)

You have everything lumped on the one partition, why this is bad is explained in another canned info below;
Reasons why Windows should always be installed on either its own drive or on a separate partition on a larger drive;

It reduces the amount of free space that is required to be kept available + it makes creating a regular back a whole lot easier.

It helps avoid corruption and malware attack.

Windows will boot up quicker on its own partition as it does not need to install drivers for any third party programs.

A 256GB SSD or separate partition on a larger capacity drive should be the minimum capacity allowed for.
Network
You are connected to the internet
Connected through: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz
Adapter Type: IEEE 802.11 wireless

Wireless gaming sucks in any scenario but in some more than others, distance from the router, signal interference and the wrong drivers being installed are just a couple of things that make matters worse.

Once the computer is set up correctly and running stable we will test your hardware offline to see how it performs.

In addition to the above;
Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Z590 AORUS ELITE AX

There are two versions of the exact same board, one a stock Gigabyte and the other a dedicated Aorus board, do you happen to know which version you have.

[li]So I’ve gone ahead and disabled X.M.P in my BIOS.[/li][li]Since I only have one SSD, I’d need to get a new drive install it to the motherboard and install windows on their correct?[/li][li]With the MB chipset and SATA I’m pretty sure I’ve installed the appropriate drivers using Gigabyte APP Centre, but I will go ahead and install them manually on the website just in-case.[/li][li]Power Plan changed to Balanced.[/li][li]Unfortunately I have no idea which version of the MB I have.[/li][/ol]

1 = good.
2= no. **
3 = we can only see Windows OS and Defender updates having been installed.
4 = good.
5 = pity as there is a newer version of BIOS available for the Aorus specific board.

** What I would do is start afresh but this time once Windows 11 and the chipset, storage and GPU drivers had been installed I would then partition the drive so that Windows was kept away from personal data and games etc.

Okay so everything is done I guess, one thing I have noticed is once I disabled X.M.P when I play counter-Strike 2 for example the performance feels worse and the game just overall feels very bad and not smooth as opposed to when I had X.M.P enabled.

You cannot test a computers performance by playing online games and this the reason why I advised the below in my reply 6;
