My pc freezes only while gaming

hello community
i’m new to the forum, and was told by a friend that there’s a fine and pro comunity here

the issue i have it’s a freezing screen every time a play a game, i’ve tried doing memory scan, diskscan, updated drivers, gpu drivers DDu but nothing!
my rig is brand new.
the probleme showed after i received my replacement gpu from asus, as the first one was faulty.

my config:
intel i9 12900ks
asus nvidia rtx 3090
gskill trident z5 ddr5 6600
nvme 1to samsung 980 pro
MB: asus z690 maximus extreme
windows 10

oops, I`m afraid you made a couple of important mistakes

That is the wrong RAM for your CPU, Intel state here up to DDR5 4800MHz and if you have XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC fall over.

Restore the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS, they are sometimes listed as one of the following " factory defaults" “most stable” or on newer boards “optimized” please note that if you have both the “most stable” and the “optimized” options in the BIOS you should choose the most stable" option as in this instance the “optimized” settings are a form of overclocking that can cause instability.

Save the new settings, exit the BIOS, restart the computer, test by using the computer as you normally would, post back with an update once you have done this.

The correct procedure for installing the system drivers was not followed, see my canned explanation below;
Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers, then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.[/COLOR][/color]

i knew i did some weird things

• but before i send the old gpu to RMA all was fine with XMP enabled all was fine. i even finished far cry 6 with max settings
  -now the pc freezes even with no XMP activated
  -i’ll do another clean install for windows 10 with your method once i’m back home, and get back to you

Then clean install Windows immediately followed by the system drivers and be sure to save them to a flash drive before you start so that you do not need to go online at all before things have been done properly.

Most likely pure coincidence tbh, you have a beast of a PSU there just make sure that all modular connections are secure at both ends, likewise make sure that the RAM and GPU are seated securely.

If still the same problem after dong the BIOS reset and clean install etc, remove the add on GPU from the MB altogether, hook the screen up to the appropriate video port on the MB, play a game to see if you get any issues using just the onboard video.

• i didn’t touch anything on the bios (apart from the XMP) and i already set the bios to default.
• checked all the connections. removed all rams and gpu reseated them and nothing
  -i’m suspitious about the gpu because the one i sent was brand new, had an 97 error load gpu bios and didn’t wanted to work anymore, after i sent it to RMA they couldn’t figure out the problem, and then they sent me another gpu but all used up, just as i put it on the MB and made a clean windows install when the problem started

That was wrong of them and you were quite within your rights to tell them that you wanted an out of the box new card, they may well have sent you an already returned GPU.

Do the rest of what was suggested and test without the GPU in the board before posting back, the update will determine what we suggest.

Wasn[ICODE]t aware that a riser cable was being used, it should have been mentioned in your OP as they can be troublesome and you should only consider the matter solved if you can use your RAM with XMP enabled, I would be real impressed to see a Speccy url reporting your RAM at 6600MHz, I[/ICODE]m confident that it isn’t going to happen though

When having problems if using any sort of adaptor or cable they are the things that you should always check first, this because they can be problematic as was said but in addition to that you are introducing a third party piece of kit into somewhere it is not supposed to be, Nvidea for example don`t test their GPUs with such cables or adaptors.
