Teleporting lag that makes me faster, and messes up timers in game.

As the title says, I also get input lag in games such as Smite where I have to press the ability many times but this doesn’t happen for a game like Mortal Online, instead I just get the lag written in the title.

I have on the request of one of my friends tried launching Mortal with GeForce now, and basically I got none of the lag I was normally experiencing, so that would lead me to believe it was a hardware problem. I did have my Ryzen 3 1200 overclocked to 3.8 but I reversed it trying to find the cause of the lag.

EVGA 500 B1, 500w. Is there a way I can fix any of this?

Oh yes I forgot, I had used an XMP profile on my RAM. If I remember correctly it was 2666, I’m not sure if that changes anything but I’ve had it for a while.

You never told us how old the PSU is and that could be the cause of your issues.

Oh sorry I must have missed that, I purchased my power supply in 2018 around the start of august. Sorry for the quotes. This has been happening for a while but it comes and goes.

Out of warranty so could be suspect, the HDD warning needs to be sorted asap else you will lose all your personal data etc.

For you to do;

Restart your computer and check the temperatures/voltages in the BIOS, no screenshot is required just make a note of the temperatures, the DRAM voltage, the +3.3V, +5V and the +12V rails on the PSU and post them with your next reply.

NB: BIOS voltage readings.

The readings are not conclusive in the BIOS as the computer is under the least amount of load, if they are higher or lower than what they should be though it most often suggests a PSU problem.

It depends, when did you change the profile back, before or after you took the above screenshots.

You 100% need to get a new storage device asap, the present drive could fail completely at any time.

I changed it after, I will get a new harddrive. Also I found out for some reason if I put my powersupply out from my computer and plug it back in it fixes the lag. Obviously not a fix I would like to keep using but I thought it might be important to note.

The voltages look ok in the BIOS but only as long as they were taken before you disabled XMP, your second pic shows the RAM speed of 2400MHz whereas it should be 2133MHz which suggests that the RAM is/was still being OCd, fine for the RAM but not good for the HDD or if the PSU is flaky, your PSU being out of warranty you need to be careful with it in any event.

You are welcome but if it is going to be a while before you can get a new drive let us know so we can put your thread on hold do that you don`t keep getting asked for any update.

Whatever you do, don`t try saving anything to the drive and disable Windows updates, the drive will most certainly fail at some point if you try and save anything more to it.

I have disabled the updates and my new SATA cable for the replacement hard drive should be coming October 7th and I will report back then.

I have to also add I looked over back at the messages and the photo of the voltages was take AFTER I got rid of the cpu overclock all together and put the XMP down from 2666 to 2400.

2400MHz is still OCing the RAM, 2133MHz is the stock speed, restore the MBs default settings in the BIOS which will likewise reinstate the stock voltage and speed of the RAM.
