poor performence in games

Hey. I have been getting bad performence in games for about 1 year now. I have contacted Nvidia about 10 times now for help but they didnt fix it. they said the gpu might be broken so I upgraded from an Asus ROG Strix RTX 3080 12 GB OC edition to an Asus GeForce TUF Gaming RTX 3080 Ti just recently. Before that i also switched cpu from Intel 11700K to Ryzen 5900X beacuse i thought i might have had a bottleneck but that didnt help either. I have also reset Windows 4 times with no sucsess i have never done a clean ssd wipe tho. I get arround 30-40 fps in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and a bunch of lag, i get arround the same lag and fps in X plane11 as in Microsft Flight Simulator 2020. I get 100-130 fps in Destiny 2 and lag. I get 100-125 fps and a little lag in Horizon Zero Dawn. Please help me, i cant take this anymore((

Something I can tell you off the bat, that PSU is insufficient for your GPU.
I would look at investing in a solid 950W or 1000W 80+ Gold or Platinum unit and then just forget about it. It’s not guaranteed to be your problem, but it could be one if you want to rule it out for sure.

Have you completed a speedtest yet? Search it up, I think Speedtest by Ookla is one of the more common, but your browser might have one built in. Tell us what kind of speeds you are getting (Download, Upload, and Ping).

I would look at investing in a solid 950W or 1000W 80+ Gold or Platinum unit and then just forget about it. It’s not guaranteed to be your problem, but it could be one if you want to rule it out for sure.

Also the RM850 is an 80+ gold. Do you think its still not sufficient enough?

So do you guys recommend upgrading a psu? if so, i have been looking at the used market and they have an Asus ROG Strix 1000w Gold psu for 160 dollars and a corsair rm1000x for 150, the price difference doesnt really matter

AMD CPUs thrive off fast ram.

However, you need to be careful not to overdo it, your CPU is only capable of utilizing 3200MHz ram. What do you currently have in the system? Is XMP enabled?

I’m not saying these are the problems for certain, but over stressing/maxing components is never a good thing.

As far as purchasing a used powersupply, I am not sure if I would recommend this without purchasing from the manufacturer/with a warranty.

Your PSU is quite possibly the single most important component in your computer, you do not want to buy a cheap or questionable model as it could have adverse effects on your other components.

When searching for a quality PSU, I would recommend EVGA, Seasonic, or Corsair as they make fantastic units with 10 year warranties.

i have the xmp profile at 3600mhz.

But can slow ram cause all of these issues? I wouldnt think so. I can try putting the ram at slower mhz

Too fast ‘could’ cause issues.

If you want your safest bets hardware wise, a 1000W power supply, and 3200MHz ram running at exactly that with XMP (not underclocked).

Otherwise I don’t see any glaring issues.

My next step would be to eliminate anything unnecessary, unplug any extra monitors, thumb drives, webcam, etc. Leave only one monitor, the keyboard and the mouse.

If this does not make a change, try unplugging the computer from any surge protectors/extensions if you have it plugged in to one.
