old ubisoft game

I am trying to load an old Ubisoft game of settlers IV gold edition. it says it has loaded but then will not allow me to play the game.

How old is the game?
Have you tried playing the game using compatibility mode set for the Windows version the game was intended for?
If yes then uninstall the game & then right click the setup & set compatibility mode as previously mentioned & then install the game, setting compatibility mode again if needed.
If after all this the game still doesn’t run then it’s too old.
