I’m looking to get a new laptop soon and I am stuck between two types. I found a computer that has a intel core i7 processor, 8gb RAM, and 512 SSD. The other computer I found is Intel i5 core, 8gb RAM, 512 SSD, but also has 32gb of Intel Optane Memory. Recently learning and reading about this, I see that there are articles saying this can allow for a better gaming experience as it can improve the performance. Is the improvement worth settling for the core i5, or should I continue with the i7.
You would be better to post links to the two computer involved so we can check all the specs, it would also help if you told us what games you want to be able to play.
So that you are aware, the 32GB of Optane memory is incorporated into the 512GB SSD, this will speed up your boot times but will not help gaming if the computer only has the one 8GB stick of RAM working in single channel mode.
