Couple of suggestions for you;

Create a new system restore point.

Get yourself an 8GB or above USB thumbdrive then download a Windows 10 ISO for free from here

Okay will do! also one minor problem I think the restore point that I used has made me now unable to open chrome when I click on it. Do I have to undo the restore point or update something?

Update Chrome which is a good idea to do every now and again in any event, once done, make it your default browser
