My monitor goes to sleep when I launch this Steam game.

I bought this game called “Wolf Quest: Anniversary Edition” on Steam, and when I try to play, It shows the main menu for a second, then my monitor goes blank and displays the message “no signal detected, monitor going to sleep” monitor enters sleeping mode, The Main menu theme keeps playing but all I can do after is turn off my PC by holding the power button.

My PC specs:

CPU: Intel core i5-9400f

GPU: Radeon RX 480 8GB

RAM: 8 GB

Storage: 280 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD

Monitor: HP V214a 20.7-inch

OS: Windows 10 Pro

All drivers are up-to-date.

The GPU not getting enough power could cause such behaviour.

Some questions if I may;

Does every other game play without any issue.

What is the brand and model name or number of the PSU.

Is your 8GB of RAM a single stick or two 4GB sticks of 2666MHz or above capable.

Every other game I play doesn’t cause this issue. I play Sea Of Thieves, Team Fortress 2, and Kerbal Space Program on maximum settings yet, this never happens.

Out of the games that you mention the above is the most demanding, see here

Pretty similar GPU requirements so you would expect to be able to play both games on the same settings, you may need to open a ticket on Steam about this as we cannot help you with anything under their control.

Cooler Master do not make good PSUs and so much so that they are on the avoid list, in addition to the brand not being good, you should never use anything less than a Gold efficiency rated PSU from a proven brand when there is decent GPU present, an RX 480 8GB requires a PSU with a minimum of a 500W output and you will not get this from a CM PSU that is labelled as 500W, some claimed 500W CM PSUs can only actually produce 384W which is imo downright dangerous.

How old is the PSU that you have, better still if you can post a link so we can check the specs.

Your RAM can only work in single channel mode at 1333MHz and this will cause you a bottleneck when the computer is under a full load.

I found a way to fix it. I have to drop my display resolution before I launch the game, but after it loads the main menu, I can revert to my previous settings, and the game runs perfectly.
Thank you for helping me.
